Hello! My name is Michelle. I began my journey as an in home provider in the early 90's due to a friend who needed assistance and couldn't find help. After weeks of researching and discovering what is involved, I decided to try my hand at it. Boy, am I glad I did, one of the best decisions I've made! I enjoy learning my clients and listening to the many stories that come from each and every one. I can not begin to explain how the words of wisdom that I have received over the years have been quite helpful in some of my life decisions. I love what I do and my greatest achievement is seeing the smile on my clients face when I walk in the door.

I feel as though I am a very patient and compassionate person. When I was in high school, I had the opportunity to spend time with my grandmother when she was in hospice. I think that is what has drawn me so much to care for others. What I enjoy most about caring for others is being able to help people who are simply unable to help themselves. That is such a rewarding feeling for me! I am most proud of myself when I am able to put a smile on someone else's face.

For me, being a caregiver isn't just a career. It's my calling in life. I feel as though it's what I was put here to do. My very first job at age 18 was as a caregiver for a lady with MS. I cared for her as a live in for nearly three years with one day off weekly. I then moved to direct care for disabled individuals and have accumulated several years experience. I am certified in first aid/ CPR, medication administration, insulin trained, and have a wide path of experience to fall back on. I was also caregiver for my mother for five years until she passed from ALZ. I am currently attending college studying Human and Social Services to better provide for those I work with and for. I believe that being a caregiver requires a special individual, just as special as those I care for. I have always felt that the individuals I have met and worked with have each been a blessing in their own way and I am the lucky one for having them in my heart and life. I view my clients as family, nothing less. I am dedicated, sincere, patient, full of good humor, not easily upset, and my greatest joy is making others happy. That's the biggest benefit of all. Hello! My name is Emily Thornton, I am 20 years old. I have lived most of my life in Delaware, OH. Since I was little, I have enjoyed working with older adults. I enjoy listening to the stories they have to tell. Being a caregiver has been amazing - I have worked with many wonderful clients. Through my work and educational experience, I have gained a lot of knowledge about older adults and the needs they have. In the future, I would like to be a social worker for the aging population. Currently, I am studying Social Work at The Ohio State University. I will be completing my internship at the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging. Working with older adults has been a passion for me!
