Hey! My name is Kiersten. Im 30 years old. I have about 6 years of experience working with disabled/elderly patients. Im certified in CPR and First aid. I have experience driving handicapped vehicles, My first job in this field was taking care of my grandmother. I helped her for the last 3 years she was alive. When i first started helping her out she fell and broke her hip and she never really fully recovered from that. She went on to have 2-3 strokes. She had dementia, and just wasnt the wonderful loving woman she once was. By the end of it all she couldnt walk at all. I would have to wheel her to the bathroom and get her on and off of the toilet. Pick her up and sit her in her favorite chair, and feed her. It was very very hard. I am a very loving and understanding person, a good listener for both the patient and family members. I'm quick to learn what to do and not to do. As a 17 year old I am very well mannered. What has attracted me to become a caregiver was watching my older friends and family members who were caretakers, take their love and help families through a difficult time period. I most enjoy spending time with older ones and listening to their life stories it's always fascinating and sometimes funny. My favorite personal achievement would be receiving my CPR and first aide certifications.
