My experience has taught me patience and compassion for individuals afflicted with mental and physical disabilities requiring assistance with daily activities. I am able to handle patients who are ambivalent about their need for outside help and understand the psychological stress individuals face when having to give up their independence and need to rely on others. I worked with a man with Parkinson disease as well as a diabetic. He was 96 years old when I begin working with him. He was on hospice, with six months to live, he live to be 100 years old and six months. His children say that was due to my cooking and taking care of him, talking with him he just needed someone to show him love and attention.
