Hi I'm Amanda. I am 43 years old and I have been caring for others most of my life and I find it the most rewarding and joyful part of my life. It helps me more to extend a hand when I can. I have about 6 years of private duty care experience. I have found that sadly our world doesn't have enough folks that are able to kindly give time to those in need and therefo9re have found my own purpose in life. If I can change a bad day to an acceptable day for just one person then I am rewarded with the feeling it gives me. What makes me stand out as an individual and a wonderful care giver is that I give my all to my patients and I treat them like I would want to be treated or how I would like my family to be treated if they needed a caregiver. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is the interaction and experiences you get to go through with the patient and you get to grow with them and help them overcome life challenges. A personal achievement I am proud of is knowing that all the care I give will be remembered cause I put my whole heart into it.

I was raised by my grandparents and helped care for them from my early teenage years to now. I have experience with Alzheimer's, diabetes, COPD, and some post surgery recovery experience. I'm also the oldest of ten so I have no problem with caring for young children and I have a lot of patience. I care for a variety of animals and have a passion and understanding for all walks of life. I love enriching someone else's life and knowing I'm making a difference in someone's day. I went to culinary school and was a prep cook for a year and take pride in my culinary achievements.

I am a Senior Social Work Major with a minor in Psychology. I have an 87 year old grandfather who I have cared for throughout the years. I have an associates degree in Human services. I am knowledgeable in Sign language. I am a very sweet, patient, and kind hearted individual. I look forward to helping others and finishing with a Social Work degree and going into the geriatrics field of work.

What attracted me to be a caregiver is my journey of being a Direct Support Professional has been phenomenal and has gone better than ever expected since I didn't have any previous experience. My time as a DSP has truly been a blessing because it has been the job I have fallen in love with which subsequently makes it feel like it isn't work or a "job." My passion of being a companion and taking care of others minimizes the perspective of it being another job.
