What makes me a great caregiver is that I pay attention to details. I do exactly what I'm told, asked and also give advice according to my expertise and I tell the truth about what is needed when it matters. I first started working with elders within my monastery taking care of their basic needs and taking them back and forth to doctor's appointments and following their doctors care of plan. That transmitted to my professional work life as a certified nursing aide, as I work in the nursing homes and also in private home settings. It brings me joy to see those who are in need of help receive the assistance that they need without taking away their dignity and also giving them the extra help that's necessary.... at the same time allowing them to do what they can for themselves. HELLO! My career as a caregiver started with a chronically ill father. Throughout my childhood and in my early teens my dad was very ill with diabetes Type 1. When I was 5 years old my dad lost his eyesight. As a preteen I participated in his care helping with blood sugar readings and Insulin injections. When I was able to drive I help out by taking him to doctor's appointments. I went away to college and lived in Florida for a few years and as my dad became progressively worse I moved home. I became increasingly involved in his care as my mother was worn out and had a very full-time job. At that point I decided to change career paths and go to nursing school. My love of taking care of people is a direct result of the experience I had administering Loving Care to my father . I considered to be a dedicated and resourceful Private Duty Nurse. I fully believe we all have a calling in life. This happens to be mine. I've been a certified nurses aide since I was 18 years old. I've worked with all facets in which the job could entail. Private and in house facilities. Dementia/Alzheimer's - the blanket of it and it's branches, quad and paraplegic inflicted folks. Colostomy care as well as wound care. The list goes on. However, whatever the aliment, or the the age, we are all people, with feelings and tempers and day to day challenges. Sitting down with someone, hearing stories about their loves and accomplishments, simply giving them time and attention is what I see is most important. The smiles, hugs and love make my job worth it each and every day. I started out with the desire to be a caregiver after helping to take care of my great grandmother as a child. Also my mom and grandmother are both nurses. I enjoyed being able to help people who need help. What makes me good at what I do is my compassion. I love people, all kinds of people. I have taken care of all ages, from all over the world. I learn who they are, where they are from, what they like, and what they believe in. And from there I respect all their wishes and do everything I can to ensure they are happy and well taken care of. I am very hard working. I do not mind doing anything that is needed of me.

I stay calm it helps with dementia I'm friendly I like to kid around. I like being around the elderly. I love all the new things I learn from them the stories of there life. It's great my grandmother was a nurse and when she retired she opened her home to military vets and I would help her make beds clean there rooms and talk with them. I received my C.N.A. in 98.
