Working through home health and dealing with a range of clients, I have learned how to manage and take care of certain clients. The main conditions in which people have been under that I have taken care of, was with paraplegics. Working with these people, I have learned how to communicate with them, do certain things to their liking, operate hoyer lifts, and help navigate through their everyday life ensuring they are the most comfortable and happy. I have worked worked with a select few as well that suffered from dementia and altzheimers. With the year I've worked for addus I have learned how to deal with certain conditions in which people face, such as the dementia and Alzheimer's. I have also learned how to work through task and problems that may come up with people suffering from these diseases. A good trait I would say for myself, is being able to remain calm, and professional in difficult situations. Another good trait is I'm a fast learner on learning how certain clitents like certain things to be done, and when they like it to be done. I'm good on getting on a routine schedule with clients. It makes it not only easier for me, but for them as well.

My personality traits to help be a great caregiver is, Patience, People who need care often take longer to complete simple tasks. They may ask the same questions over and over. Good caregivers need patience to deal with anything from a loved one's memory lapses to angry outbursts. They practice staying calm and avoiding frustration. Compassion, Empathy and understanding are absolutely necessary. Even when caring for an abusive person, caregivers try to remain empathetic and understanding. Being Present, Good caregivers know the importance of respecting their loved one's current abilities. Rather than focusing on what their loved one can no longer do, a good caregiver tries be in the moment with them -- looking at photos, listening to music, cooking a favorite meal, remembering that they weren't always sick. Willing to assist, Always being able to be able to willing to help and assist the patient with anything they need! What attracted me to be a caregiver is, my grandmother and also, I enjoy working with people and most enjoy jobs where you have one-on-one interaction with others. I enjoyed taking care of elder family members and would like to help others in this way. I love older adults and feel you can get along well with a variety of elders. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is that being a caregiver provides a sense of pride and joy that most people don't experience in their day jobs. Everyone has the desire to feel that they're needed, and caregiving gives that feeling. At the end of the day, caregivers can look back and know they made a difference in people's lives. A personal achievement that im extremely proud of is that i graduated CNA class and get to further my experiences to live for elderly.
