It is a profession that found me. It started with a next door neighbor I had once. She was an elderly lady and needed help with small things in the beginning and then gradually our relationship grew to the point where I was completely taking care of her and I enjoyed her company so much it didn't seem like a job to me. I fell in love with being a caregiver and the rest is history. My personal achievement would be going back to school and graduating at the top of my class. It's never too late to reinvent yourself. I have since went on to work at a senior living community and have had a lot of fun working there. I recently received my CNA license.
It is a profession that i was drawn into when my grandmother became diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I cared for her in the last two years of her life and assisted her with such things as bath, grooming, and incontinence care . I also assisted her with mobility tranfers, and provided transportation to and from doctor's appointments.
I love working with seniors of all ages because to me it's like spending time with my grandma and grandpa. I also multitask and I am very responsible, honest, and reliable. I have worked with elderlys my whole life and volunteered at senior centers and homes. As a hobby i do many different recreational activities and field trips with all seniors. I have been working with Respite Care for more 4 years as a Care Provider with Adults with Autism. I am up to any challenge that has to do with the health and major problems of any elderly to better their life style and living situation. I am bilingual Spanish and English and I manage to take great care of any senior involving any task. I am always up for anything and love to make people happy and smile. To me this is not just a simple job but spending time with family and helping out with grandma and grandma.
I have always loved taking care of people at all stages in life. My niece was premature 3lb 2oz I was with her the day that little girl came into this world. Fighting for everything she had. She is autistic and she is such an amazing person her drive to become somthing extraordinary in her own little way. She suffers from type 1 diabetic and life has handed her a tough card but she never is unhappy about anything. I try to love my life like her. Every day just giving even if it's just a little to bring a smile and make someone laugh can do amazing things. Iv have sat at bed side of the ill holding a hang of a greaving husband. I have also held a hand of someone who was scared to pass away alone. I was with her till the end. I try to love, smile and even cry with all because we are all human and we should never be alone. If I can just bring that one day of happy then Iv done my job!
My name is Jovita Okeydike from Nigeria (West Africa) living in Bakersfield, C; USA. I am a wife and mother of five children, and I have been a CNA for more than five years. I have many experiences on how to care for patients both the young and the elderly. I acquired my experiences by working in the nursing home, county hospital, (KMC) home health care and private hospital.(Memorial Hospital) Academically, I have finished my prerequisite class for nursing program, hoping to be a registered nurse in the next two to three years by God's grace. I am a christian who believes in human kindness no matter the person, because every one created by God needs love, kindness, and care. I believe that man is not an Island, at some point in life we need others help, care, and love either from relatives or strangers. My family value of honesty and truthfulness cannot be compromised. Until one becomes sick or have love one that is sick or elderly, the person will not appreciate the work of care givers and health workers. Before I became a CNA, I took care of my father at his old age (90 years), the challenges of taking care of him were motivating factors to be a care giver and health worker.

Outgoing, caring, reliable. My mother was sick for a long time so I made that my mission to help others. Finding out about people and their likes and dislikes. Making them feel comfortable. I love making lasting friends with the people I've cared for and their families.
To me caregiving is a very rewarding job. Not only do I get to assist the elderly but its been my experience that I gain a whole new family in doing so. Its a wonderful feeling knowing that your helping someone who may not be able to do the things they use to and reassure them that its OK to have a little help sometimes. I've always had a knack for helping people. It just comes natural to me. It makes my heart feel good knowing that I can make
a difference in someone's life. I truly love doing this type of work. I've been a caregiver for 7 years now and I come highly recommended and have excellent references. Thank you. Sandy
I love being a caregiver because I just really enjoy helping people with whatever I can do. Whether its having long conversations or staying with them all night, I really enjoy their company.
