I took care of my Mother in our home for 14 years. I loved taking care of her . She was a stroke victim but was able to communicate with us. I love giving the patient dignity and love. My mother would not have lived as long as she did without the home care she received. My mother died in April 2014 and I started working at an assisted living facility the last of July. I am still employed there but would like to increase my hours per week helping others. I am 56 years old and love caring for others.
I have over 35 years in the care-giving and home care field. I am semi retired. I am passionate about caring for the elder generation, as they are mentors to me and living history. I have extensive experience in multiple disciplines of care, from basic home health, to sub acute (rehab) and hospice and palliative care. I am patient, reliable, compassionate, and energetic. Over 35 years of CNA experience I am showing interest, in your posting the care of you/your loved one. I am looking for a part time case and shorter commute. I am skilled in many aspects of home care and senior needs from simple companion care, non medical and medical care and hospice cases and special needs, such as medication, ADLs (activities of daily living) monitoring vitals according to Doctor's orders, carrying out therapies as directed. I am very patient and reliable.
I am 26 years old with 2 children and my husband is retired military. To give you an idea of where I came from and who I am- As a child I grew up around an uncle who needed constant care. I watched nurses in and out, from the time I was 3 years old, taking care of his needs and helping him, simply live. Eventually, I took on that responsibility, at 16 I decided to go into the medical field by starting as a general doctor's assistant in Greenville, MS. I worked for a nephrologist, Dr. Patel, who helped build me into the caregiver I am today. After high school, I then went directly into doing CNA work and continued throughout the birth of my children. I feel that the moment I walk into a home/room to visit my resident, a smile goes a long way. I have always been known for my super southern hospitality and for my great bedside manner. I always try to remember the values and morals my mother instilled in me (as Her career is private sitting herself) to remember to treat everyone around me, the way I would want my own mother treated. I absolutely LOVE talking and hearing of my residents past, when they were younger, how the world was different and seeing their faces light up, because someone is honestly intrigued of their journey in life.
Skills & Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
I have 20 plus years of experience in the healthcare industry. When I was in my teens, my grandmother was diagnosed with terminal Cancer and was bound to a wheelchair. I moved in with her to care for her needs. I enjoyed being able to give her comfort. I administered her B-12 injections and her daily medicine, while cooking, cleaning and bathing her. I realized then, that I wanted to become a nurse. I did not have any backing to go to nursing school, so I attained my Registered Medical Assistant and my Registered Phlebotomist licenses. One of my personal achievements was when I took care of a patient who was a paraplegic. I taught her how to use the remote with 2 fingers. She was so ecstatic when she finally was able to do that one thing by herself. It was truly amazing!
Skills & Certifications: Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), Medical Assistant (MA), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
I am an energetic, goal-driven, caring person who is interested in using my medical experience for someone in need of care. While I was in high school, I was a caregiver for an elderly man with Alzheimer's and terminal cancer. I greatly valued my time spent with him and was thankful that we could help each other out; I was able to help him do day-to-day activities as his caregiver and he gave was prompt to give me life advice anytime he saw fit. Shortly after he passed away, I graduated high school and joined the Army National Guard as a combat medic. One of the biggest reasons for my enlistment was to get my foot in the door with the medical field and to better the quality of our troop's lives. Being a medic means I get to see people on their worst days and, though that might be a less than glorious job to some, I find purpose in the fact that any intervention I administer helps better that person's quality of life. I intend on furthering my career in the medical field as a paramedic and will be attending school for my associates in paramedic medicine- ultimately leading to a career as a flight medic.

I became a caregiver because I believe it was my calling. I became a CNA in 1992 and worked as one until 2012. My heart is in geriatrics and working with alzheimer patients. I love everything about being a caregiver! I love what I do and feel rewarded at the end of my day knowing I helped to make someone else's life to be just a little bit easier. I moved to Colorado on blind faith and in 6 months, took and received my GED, got a job in housekeeping, my own apartment and attended Otero Junior College, nurse aide program, where I recently graduated having received my CNA license as it had expired. And finished top of my class in Medical Terminology. I'm a hard worker and take a lot of pride in what I do. When it comes to my residents/patients, they always come first. I am eager to get back to doing the work that I believe I'm meant to do.
