I am a great caregiver because, I make it my business to get to know my clients in order for me to serve them better. Also because I am very compassionate, caring, loving, hardworking, responsible, reliable, adaptable and I take my job very serious.
I am religious, calm, honest, patient, hard-working, careful, responsible, compassionate...God inspires us in many ways. It is important to understand the client's needs completely. Experience in this field is vital for a compassionate care. Each individual has different needs and request. When the client feels this type of care this becomes a fulfilling experience. I was caring a elderly couple at home of which the gentleman had Parkinson's disease with arthritis and the lady was legally blind. It was so sad to see them pass separately. But life does continue!
Why did I become a caregiver you ask. Growing up I always was around the older women in my family. I loved listening to all the old stories. When my grandma got sick I watched how her CNA will just come in and do her anyway. It break my heart. As I got older the love got stronger for elderly.
The best part of being a caregiver is knowing that your able to help someone when they need you the most.

I have more than nine years experience working (full time) with individuals(adults mostly) with developmental disabilities. I have worked in the community with them, their residences and have experience in transportation as well. But mostly in a group setting. I have been told that my compassion towards them is extremely apparent. I am there for the individuals 100%. For their health and well being but also for quality of life. I also believe that promoting as much independence as one can have is so important!! When I have worked one to one or in someone's home that was where I felt I could make the most difference. I have worked in medically intensive houses as well as behaviorally intensive. I have well rounded experience and skills. I absolutely love caring for these individuals. Hi I'm Holly! I became a caregiver because I began attending a College in Massachusetts for my bachelor's degree in the profession of nursing. I am proud of my personal achievement of attending my college towards my bachelor's degree in nursing. I am a dedicated and hardworker. I will not disappoint on the job, I am independent once familiarized with my expectations and duties, but will ask questions when needed.

I became a caregiver because of my father to whom I was close too and had to care for and comfort because no other person was able to comfort him as well as I did. I enjoy seeing that I have put a smile on a person's face by me being empathetic and made their day much easier by helping with the day to day activities. My personal achievement was to see one of my clients become as independent as possible because the smile he had was priceless.
I am a former special education teacher with 38 years of experience. I left to be home more often with my 85-year-old father who lived with me and had dementia as well as other health concerns. He was the love of my life and I was determined to keep him home with me, but I needed to have some steady income. Prior to my father's passing a year ago, I took care of my mother as well. She had vascular dementia secondary to diabetes as well as other health concerns and was a very difficult person; however, my parents always took excellent care of me and now it was my turn to pay them back rather than turn my back. I was lucky to be in position to do this.
I cooked, cleaned, did laundry, med management, took them to doctor appointments as far away as Hartford, administered weekly blood tests for INR levels, consulted with all agencies as needed (and took all phone calls) as well as every other aspect of running a household and managing a person's life. I loved every minute of it, although it was not without its challenges! I do believe that I can be a valuable asset to you.
