I became a caregiver because i wanted to help others to help themselves and because I enjoy knowing that I can make a difference in someones life. I like knowing that I can make someones life that much easier just by being patient, understanding, kind, loving, and willing to listen as well as paying attention to things to help them in their everyday life. I also like to see the change for the better in people when most would give up I like to find another way to help even when they don't realize it. I have worked in the school district as substitute teacher for four years. Before that I worked as a private Nanny who also did home care work with other family members in the households. I have worked a lot with children with disabilities as a home care giver and as a para professional in the school district. I ran errands, planned schedules, answered phones, took kids to and from activities, and provided meals, helped with toilet training, and bath time. I have also worked with older family members which has always been enjoyable for me. I would drive them to and from where they needed to go, help with groceries, give them medication, laundry, assisted with feedings and other needed things around the house.

I have worked with a variety of clients that have depression, multiple sclerosis, Down syndrome, diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and elder care. I was attracted to caregiving because I really enjoy helping others and making a difference in people's lives. I enjoy the relationships that have developed in my experience with being a CNA. I never thought that I would be able to do this type of work, and by having an open mind to try something new, I discovered that helping others is quite intuitive to me as well as extremely rewarding.
