My name is Colleen! I decided to apply at Carelinx because I along with my siblings helped care for my mom who had Alzheimer's Disease! We were able to comfortably keep her at home while she was with us. I wanted to be able to give a family a break for a few hours and sit with and give their family member some companionship while they could get a break. I have a very outgoing & friendly personality.

I have been a medication technician (CMT) for four years, I administer medications per facility, state and federal law/guidelines by practicing inside my scope. I am also insulin & CPR certified by the state of Missouri and American Heart association. I am comfortable with administering insulin medication, subQ and orally. I am a nursing candidate at Mineral Area College, I have had ECG training along with the knowledge of A&P, Microbiology, Medical Terminology I & II, so I have a good grasp and understanding on how the medications and insulin works and what signs & symptoms to watch for. I was a C.N.A for 16 years and performed all duties of a certified nurses aide to allowable state and federal guidelines. I assisted with ADL's per family, staff and patient request. I have taken care of family members, like my grandmother until she passed when she was diagnosed with cancer in 2017. I have been witness to horrible diseases, genetic and acquired. I have held the hands of people ready to cross over and begin their next journey into the afterlife. Caring for others can sometimes be challenging because people are hard to please, but it's those of us who keep trying and find a way to pacify others that separates us from the rest. Im Kayla im 22 and i believe my mission in life is to care for others. I cared extensively for my grandmother through the stuggle with cancer and my love for helping others has grown ever since. I'm a very happy soul who loves tolend a listening ear, shoulder to cry on and a hand to hold. I enjoy keeping those in need comfortable by helping with even the most private and personal need while still letting them have their have independent and an opinion when possible. Making sure they don't lose confidence or privacy is a top priority but also making sure all need are met and every issure cared for. I believe there is always a way to get what needs to be cared for done without the person cared for feeling embarrassed or bossed around. Everyone deserves respect.

I have taken care of many family members throughout my lifetime with situations including hospice and post-orthopedic surgery. I realized that the compassion and empathy I was able to give others was a gift, what better way to use it than to take care of those who cannot take care of themselves. I have won awards for customer service and for being an exceptional preceptor at the current healthcare facility I work at. At the end of the day, no matter how difficult it was I am happy because I was able to help someone.

When it comes to caregiving for another person, you have to be open minded and patient. Being able to learn and adapt to their environment and how they live. To have good strength in order to help guide or transfer clients to different rooms or vehicles. Have the ability to keep up with the house keeping duties, meals, errands,appoitments. I have lots of experience in this field of experience.

I worked as a CNA since 2001. BLS Certified. I've worked in Nursing homes, Hospitals, Psychiatric facility, Assisted Living and Memory Care facility, Home health and Hospice care. I'm very compassionate and care for my residents/clients as they were my own family member.
