Hello! My name is Desiree and I have been caregiving professionally since 2008 beginning with my cousin with developmental disabilities. My first job after high school was housekeeping in nursing home and hospital and I always found myself trying to interact with the clients, whether it just be conversations or pushing them back to their rooms after meals. I have mostly worked in CILA homes taking care of the developmentally disabled and I absolutely enjoyed every moment and every prrsonality I ever met! Never a full moment, I began as a DSP and was a house manager for the same company. I have also worked some side jobs taking care of the elderly, a couple until they passed, and another until she just didn't need the extra help Amy more. I have wanted be a caregiver for as long as I can remember, I had a grandpa that had lost both legs, one due to a stroke and the other because of Gangrene. My grandmother need a lot of help with him from changing diapers to helping with feeding once he got a feeding tube, and I was always their! I don't feel like myself unless I'm helping someone else live their best life!

I've been a caregiver for 5 years started off working at rescare where i worked in group homes supportive living sites and day programs. What i loved most about being a caregiver is the fact i'm able to make someone smile everyday knowing that i play apart in someone's day going better makes my day better. I love taking my clients out into the community i love crafts and doing different activities. I also would help prepare my clients meals which i'd say they love i'm a pretty good cook if i may say so myself. I then left rescare after 3 years worked at easterseals at their day program due to covid i had stopped working there. Then worked at Compass residential where i've worked as a caregiver and a supervisor is my current job now. Id say i'm proud of myself for not giving up some days are harder than other but i continue to keep pushing because i jobs love what i do.

I'm very compassionate and patient. I've previous experience taking care of my brother who suffered from muscular dystrophy since he was 8-20. I've been granted a citizenship award in high school for my efforts with him. I want to help impact peoples lives for the better, and I believe that i would be well suited for this position. A smile is worth a thousand words and if I can help peoples lives a little less difficult and make them smile, I feel as though I've done a good job.

Outgoing and l like working with the elderly and mental challenged. I used to private set with an elderly man. We became friends. I liked hearing him talking about his life.
