I have always had a strong relationship with my Grandmother, from as young as I can remember. I watched her as she aged over the years, and became unable to do certain things for herself. It was instinctual for me to just do them for her. It made her feel better knowing she had me there for her and it made me feel good knowing I could help her and make her life easier. I still feel that way today when I am able to help someone out with things they cannot do for themselves. I always think, if I wasn't around for my own Grandmother, I would have wanted a compassionate individual, like myself, to care for her. I take pride in my natural ability to care for the wellbeing of others with the utmost respect. I truly enjoy helping people. That is why I became a certified caregiver.

What makes me a great caregiver is I love helping others and making them smile. I like hands on work. I'm very responsible, respectful and dependable. I became a caregiver when I first started caring for my grandma who had dementia. The bond you have with your client and the family when you are a great caregiver is a great feeling. I have always been more mature for my age. I grew up as an only child, only hanging around adults. I have always had a caring personality and when I was 18 after I graduated high school I started working as a CNA at an adult day care, caring for geriatrics with dementia. I fell in love with them. They may not be able to remember your name or their own name but they can tell you stories about their childhood that bring warmth to your heart. I am very good at caring for geriatrics, making them feel comfortable in embarrassing situations for them (bathing, changing soiled linen) because they still deserve dignity and respect which I make sure they know they have the upmost respect. Some geriatric patients have a hard time with caregiving because they have literally give up every ounce of independence they used to have which is hard to cope with. My personality is very smiley and happy around geriatrics which makes them feel better. I also have a very loud voice which is an advantage with geriatrics since most are hard of hearing, they can hear me because I tend to speak loudly. I am an RN however I love being a caregiver too. I am very good at caring for people, making them feel comfortable, I am very easy to talk to and educating on medical information also.
