I love working with the elderly and have patients and understanding. Working to give everyone the dignity they deserve. Offer choices when dressing and listen to their questions and offer solutions. I'm most proud of the way I work to make everyone feel like they still have a purpose.
After 18 years of executive asst/Mktg I was in a bad car accident. During my healing process I determined I needed to return the great blessing of wonderful caregivers (vs helping someone make more money) and try to assist others in their daily quality of just living.

Over the past six years I have dedicated myself to helping individuals live fulfilling and dignified lives. I enjoy working with clients of all ages and backgrounds, and I possess a demonstrated ability to develop great relationships with clients and their families. I have experience in all aspects of the care giving field including ADLs, medication reminders, transportation, personalized care plan implementation, and more.
I'm easy going person who like to be around different people. I'm easy to have a conversation with, I'm very passionate towards people. My mom was a CNA when I was 12 years old, my mom took me to work with her i enjoyed helping others and seeing the smile on their faces. What I enjoy most is seeing their faces when you walk in, being able to help them, learn about them. Being able to know they have someone there to help and listen to them.
I have been in this field for 26 years. I started out working in nursing homes and my real intention was to become an R.N. I love working with the elderly population because they are a wealth of knowledge, a generation that will be lost forever, and I love to listen to the story of their lives. I have gained a wealth of knowledge in this field. I am 49 years young and the mother of a grown son and daughter. I have 5 beautiful grandchildren. I am studying and almost done with my Criminal Justice degree and I plan to work on the other spectrum of life, juveniles. I am originally from Kentucky.
I'm compassionate and caring. I grew up with my grandparents and worked with my grandma at a nursing facility growing up. Being able to help people who aren't able to do the things that they used to do is very rewarding. My personal achievement is going back to college to get my degree.
What makes me a great caregiver is the fact that I have a huge compassion with helping people. What attracted me to becoming a caregiver is the happiness you can create as well as not only sympathy but the empathy towards the elderly past or current life situations. I really enjoy creating a bond by listening to there life stories and taking care of them because it helps not only themselves but the family I love to see people smile and to help them make there day the best that it can be. An personal achievement I'm proud of is when I worked in multiple homes or facilities that I have had nothing but compliments for example a man that suffered from a strokes wife for Christmas gave me a gift and card one year thanking me and let me know that when I come in the room my smile and happiness lights up the whole room. Made me feel I was right where I belonged
I have a nurturing spirit. I became a care giver at a young age. I took care of my god mother at 12 years of age. My career choice stemmed from my relationship with the elderly. I love what I do. My work speaks from its self. I love to help people get back to their best. . I love how I can get to the meanest people and they truly love me. I have client I make special sandwich's to make him happy. So when he doesn't eat the staff let's me know and I can go cook and he will eat. This makes me proud. He doesn't like many but he likes me. I'm proud of that.
