I am a happy and funny person, upbeat, like to sing. I am sensitive and listen well. I can usually come up with good ideas on making something easier to do or more efficient. I'm gentle. What attracted me to home care was all my family and friends telling me how good I would be at it. So tried it with a part time help with a lady with dementia/alzheimer's, her daughter saw how great I was with her mother and hired me full time. From there I learned so much. She would get confused sometimes angry even sad, we worked together to figure it out, her and I . That's where compassion and patience comes in. I Started taking care of a child w/cerebral palsy part time as well. What I enjoy about being a caregiver is knowing I'm helping someone's life to be a little easier, keeping them comfortable and hopefully a little laughter and a smile is really great. Knowing I have made a difference means a great deal. I have had many great achievements in this line of work. One of them was when a client was starting to have a stroke, I caught it quickly and my training from several weeks back with the Red Cross on Abuse and Neglect, First Aid and CPR came rushing back and I just went into action. Once the ambulance was there and one of the other employees told them all I did, They said I did everything right! I did a good job! Wow,that felt great and was thankful I somehow remembered all I had learned. I didn't even realize what I had done till I heard them saying it, but most of all, she(my client) was ok. I have worked with 6-7 different senior's and 3 young adults within last ten years. I have gone through drug screening and willing to again for any client your cost. That sums up some of me,any questions let me know.

I'm family oriented, compassionate, hardworking and caring caregiver. I give client centered care and treat each individual with respect, integrity, and value personal opinion and belief. I enjoy seeing patients smile and their life stories gives me joy and lots of insight. I like to engage them to focus on the happy moments whatever works for them even if it means being quiet as some clients wish to just do their own things while I run errands or do things around the house. My experience as a caregiver has given me tremendous exposure to different clients and situations and I have learned so much over time and improved as a caregiver. I have been a caregiver for 15+ years fresh out of high school. I became a cargiver because my grandmother had took ill and developed dementia. My family and I took alot of time to care for her in the comfort of her own home until she departed in 2009. I knew that i wanted to be a caregiver because caring for people is my life I enjoy being able to put others and meet their needs before my own. Being a caregiver was not always easy and through out the years I have learned to be compassionate, caring, loving and also very giving. And through out the years I have further my education and I have more than one certification that I can provide care for.

My name is Courtney Adams. I am a mother of 2 and a wonderful aid. I am a only child and my generation of family is a lot older. Growing up most of them opt to pass away at home leaving my grandmother, my mother and myself to care and comfort them. Then I knew that I was born to be a caregiver and a nurtured nurtueror. I have been a paid at a couple of hospitals and various long term care, rehab, hospice and assisted living facilites. My greatest accomplishment as a aid is seeing the faces of patients and family when I have made a patient feel better, or brought a patients pulse back. As a aid I am determined to make patients feel as good comfortable and loved as possible.
