When I was young I would always go help my grandma a couple towns away. From Schenectady and that when I decided I wanted to take care of people. Shortly after I finished High School,in 2011 I got my PCA. I have been taking care of people ever since then helping them stay in there homes. I have worked in a nursing home also with Alzheimer's and Dementia. Some times this work is not easy. The relationships with families and the people you take care of is the rewarding part.

I have more than 13 years of experience working (full time) with individuals with developmental disabilities. In group, private residential, community, and classroom settings. Also in transportation. I have been told that my compassion towards them is extremely apparent. I am there for the individuals 100%. For their health and well-being but also for their quality of life. I also believe that promoting as much independence as one can have. When I have worked one-to-one or in someone's home that was where I felt I could make the most difference. I have worked in medically intensive houses as well as behavior intensive. I also worked for NYSOPWDD and am required to pass an extensive background check, which I have. I love what I do and have never been told anything other than I do it well. My heart is full when I'm caring for people. I get out of it what I put into it, if not more so. If I can make someone in my care smile, laugh or feel comfort, I feel like my day was a successful one!

Hello, my name is caryssa ! I've been a CNA for 7 years and trained for my entire senior year of high school. I worked a little in a hospital so I have some insight on taking care of people in that kind of setting I'm very familiar with residents who are full term in a nursing home, who have dementia, and also residents on a rehab unit recovering from falls at home causing them to break their hips, neck, back and more and trying to my best ability to make them comfortable. I've taken care of people who are actively dying and have terminal illnesses I guess it's safe to say it's what I know best is to take care of people. What I love the most about taking care of people is getting close to them like they're my own family I love my residents a lot. What drew me to being a care giver was the fact that I could help someone or even make their day better just by making them feel safe and well taken care of and in all my years as a care giver I've grown very attached to my residents I love them a lot

I love to help other people and be there when they need it the most and I listen to what they have to say!!
