I have been working as a Certified Nursing Assistant for almost four years and have worked with a multitude of individuals with different medical issues. I have always had a natural desire to help others and I knew from a very young age that I was going to be in the medical field. Becoming a CNA was one of the greatest things I have done because it has allowed me to not only help others, but it has also taught me a lot. I am a very compassionate, understanding, and patient individual who is quick to adapt to new environments. I absolutely love this job and I want to continue working as a CNA while I am in Nursing School this year.

I decided to become a caregiver because it is something I love. I am a great caregiver because I understand that one of the most important parts included in the care provided to an individual is companionship. Companionship is such an important part in care because a real human connection helps with mental and emotional well being. Taking care of physical well being is incredibly important but is only half the job. I learned this while caring for my grandmother near the end of her life. My experience started with her and moved on to caring for a wonderful woman named Majorie until she had to go into assisted living. After that I got a job working at a day program for adults with developmental disabilities. Each person I have cared for has taught me so much about doing my job better. They have taught me about caring for the whole person, not just their physical needs but their mental and emotional needs as well. My name is Ramona and I have lived in the LC valley for 24 years. I have a 23 year old daughter. I became a caregiver because I love helping families and the elderly and making their life easier. My relatively short experience with Benco in Corvallis prepared me with extensive training and certifications providing direct support for intellectually and developmentally handicapped clients. I served in a facility where clients were not ambulatory, and unable to feed or bathe themselves. We were dedicated to providing the best care and daily experiences for our clients. It is very fulfilling to know that in spite of any physical or intellectual limitations, our clients enjoyed outdoor adventures, daily walks around the neighborhood, music and book reading time, excellent personal hygiene, and frequent interaction with staff who truly cared about them.
