I became a caregiver to help others, it's always given me pleasure knowing I was able to make someone else's life a little better. I like being a caregiver because it allows me to give back what has been in me. The thing I'm mostly proud of is how much I've accomplished throughout my life. I'm 37 years of age and I've been a CNA for about 13 years now. I'm a very family-oriented, compassionate person who cares about the level of care I provide to others. Well, hello everyone! I'm very caring, attentive, and loving caregiver. I first started 5 year's ago; my best friend managed an assistant living, and needed some help. As soon as I began helping everyone I knew this was more than just a job, and that I was needed. What I enjoy the most is just getting to the client and hearing their stories. Along with helping care for them in all area's that help is needed and motivating them to continue doing the thing's they are able to do on their own. I'm just proud that I was able to connect and bond with everyone I cared for and they genuinely loved and appreciated me for it.

My personality traits is I'm a hard worker, my elderlys know they can count on me for anything . My grandmother who passed away from kidney cancer is who motivated me to become a caregiver before she passed I was helping her around the house. I'm very patient when it comes to my residents I feel like being patient should almost be a requirement and understanding them as well. Although it's important for a caregiver to have stellar time management skills, it may be more important to display appropriate body language when you visit. What do you enjoy most about being a caregiver ? Spending time with someone grandma or grandpa getting to know them and just bonding with them like they're one of my own grandparents. What is a personal achievement you are proud of ? I am proud of myself for being so determined and never giving up always doing my best at whatever job I have and giving it my all so I should say one of my personal achievements is my work ethic .

I'm very compassionate and very patient and I believe those are the best traits to have within this line of work. I've always wanted to become a caregiver because of my mother. Just growing up watching her influenced me. Building relationships with my clients influences me the most because I love knowing I'm providing a service that many may need & that they are thankful for. My favorite achievement is sticking to my job everytime. This is not a easy line of work and you have to have a passion for actually taking care of someone.

When my mother was ill, I was the one she would call to make her scrambled eggs. I took her to the swimming pool and hot tub to get exercise and relaxation. I cut her hair, took her to doctor's appointments and then lunch, and generally gave her some companionship. As I dusted her knickknacks, she told me where each was from. Mom died in 2002. When dad was ailing, some of my family tried to move him into assisted living, but he wanted to stay in his own home. I gave up my apartment and moved in with him, while working in publishing during the day. We had a great time together for a year and a half. Just after he died, I lost my job because I had spent too much time with dad. That evening, the daughter of a neighbor I'd assisted over the years called me, asking if I could help her mother. That began years of caregiving in which I have helped people stay in their homes, and enjoy life. I've brought my keyboard and played hymns and popular songs, singing with them and laughing. As a caregiver, I am simply happy to help my people stay in their own familiar setting. I believe the way I interact with them makes them happy. And my cooking makes them extremely happy! I built my cooking experience on my mom's, then learned to cook for fewer than 8 people! I edited three "Taste of the Country" cookbooks, working with a professional dietician who taught me many ways to fit dietary needs while providing tasty food.
