I have been involved with caring for seniors over the past 12 years. This began simply as a way of lending a hand as needed to those in my neighborhood. Discovering my natural affinity in skillful and compassionate care, I offered my time and services where it developed into part-time work. In February 2016, an opportunity presented itself through the American Red Cross Nursing Assistant Training Program where I obtained necessary training to complete the course with honors, graduating as a Nursing Assistant with First Aid/CPR/AED Certification. I have a great deal of respect for our elderly and those who are in need of convalescent care who simply wish to stay in their own homes as independently as possible. I wish to provide my experience, encouragement and support for dignified care.
I am a very nurturing and kind person. I am very sensitive to the physical and emotional needs of those around me, very empathetic, gentle, good sense of humor. Treating people with respect is very important to me and I know it is to you as well. Currently I have been serving 2 female clients for one year. My morning client is 97 with visual and hearing impairments, diabetes and mild dimentia. I am responsible for taking daily glucose readings, keeping records of her medical data/appointments/medication dispensing. I cook her a hearty breakfast and we eat together. I introduced her to a game called "WordCross" and she loves to play every day with me. It is great for her mind and is a good social experience as well. My afternoon client has early stage Alzheimers, but is highly functional. I provide companionship, meal preparation for her and her husband, fix her hair, walk outside with her, do their grocery shopping, and occasionally we enjoy shopping/lunch trips together. At this point (starting May 6, 2019)she will need to transition to fulltime care. *** I'm looking for a new afternoon client and hope to set up an interview soon. I have more experience that we can discuss in person and/or on the phone. What made me most aware of the needs of seniors was when my own grandmother was near the end of her life and I helped her daily with dressing, grooming, feeding at one point, and eventually accompanied her through her last days in hospice. I understand how important it is for families to feel confident that their loved one is being treated with gentleness and respect. I want to help seniors to have the best quality of life possible.

I want to continue on being a caregiver because of my undying love for my own mother who died of stroke couple of years after my father passed . My compassionate nature and high level of commitment to my work combined with my hands on experience in personal care makes me a perfect candidate for a great caregiver . Every time I work with the patient it always gives me the feeling of satisfaction and determination to help them live their lives to the fullest with dignity , happy , safe and well nourished . ... making sure that their needs are met from the smallest task to a task that is challenging for them to do . I am a good listener, I also like to engage in conversation, I am very punctual. I like to hear peoples stories and look at family photos (past, present and future). I am patient and have a kind and loving heart. I like to advocate on behalf of my client when I see a need too; allowing space and time to build a healthy relationship and a bond of trustworthiness.. What attracted me to this work are those family members and loved one's whom I love dearly, faced with their own mental, emotional, physical and psychological challenges. Being able to lend my support to them in one way or another I found to be very fulfilling. I have always found a pleasant sense of joy in the ability of giving back to others who are in need of my services.. There are many hurdles one must strive to overcome in this game of life no one is exempt. I can honestly say that I have learned many lessons, and in the process received just as many blessings. From a place of love and kindness I can give to others.. That's what care giving is suppose to do, give love to life...
