Hello, My name is Heidi and I am an outgoing, kind, patient and compassionate person pursuing a registered nursing degree and a new career as a nurse. I am currently finishing up clinicals for my nursing assistant program and will be a licensed CNA as of January of 2018. After my first day of clinicals in an assisted living facility, I knew I would be caring for the elderly and disabled while working my way through school. The work is so rewarding and I feel that I can make a difference in people's lives. I truly love getting to know my patients and find that they can be the most genuine, caring and interesting people I have ever met. I am well educated and hold a Bachelors of Science in Biology, an Associates degree in Business Administration, and I have recently completed the classroom portion of a CNA program as well as all of my pre-requisites to apply to RN programs this spring. Besides my clinical experience, I am a mother and the daughter of two wonderful parents in their mid 70's. I chose CareLinx for a more personalized caregiving experience and to be able to give the care that patients deserve. I would love the opportunity to help care for your loved one with concern and respect. Please reach out with any questions you may have.
I started as a caregiver ten years ago while looking for care for my father who was a retired Viet Nam Veteran. The agency who came to interview my father to see what his needs were, liked me so much they asked me to work for them. They are contracted through the V A and had lots of veterans who they said would benifit from my care so I stopped workung as a Dental receptionist and joined their team. My father passed away at home 3 years later in hospice during his illness I quit my job to be his caregiver and felt a strong desire to keep his legacy going by continuing to help those that can't help themselves. Just a year ago my husband had a brain aneurysm that caused a stroke where 6 months later he passed away at home in hospice where again I was his caregiver and needed to be there for him til the end. My heart goes out to familues who struggle with the pain of taking care of a loved one who is sick and even more so of a loved one who is in the end stages of life. Not only do I know how they feel but I understand their grief . I want to be the one who can comfort not only the patient but the family as well.
Wanted to find my better traits when I started giving back to others, making myself more aware of the ageing process and what can be expected. I connect with people that I can help out as it opens my eyes and heart in different ways. Listening to others life stories how they may differ through the ages and yet how similar they may be. Gaining not only new personal experiences but friendships from clients to family members.
I'm easy going and easy to work with, I get along with people and I'm a listener, like to get things done. Attend to the needs of patients in their daily routine (grooming, meal preparation, medications) maintain house care. After many years of working with patients of all ages I have realized there's a great need for good caring caregivers. I enjoy making a difference, encouraging people. When I retire every night I know I have made a difference in someone and that to me is a priceless feeling. I'm proud of what I do.
