About Kasey

I have been passionate about helping people for as long as I can remember. From a young age, I have worked with many children with a range of skills, abilities, and diagnoses. Starting at my church, I assisted with everything from centers to helping with violent emotional outbursts to feeding and transfer of children using a wheelchair. My experience continued as a sibling and carried me into shadowing an occupational therapist. Pediatric occupational therapy then became my career goal. My education has helped me become proficient in Spanish and ASL. I have began working in senior care and it has been just as fulfilling. I love going home knowing that I changed someone's life, even if for a little bit. I can't wait to expand my experience

My client is paraplegic so I manage her getting up for the day (hygiene, grooming, dressing etc.) and making sure she gets in bed. In the meantime, I also help with cleaning, laundry and meal preparation.

I have a strong care-giving background and have a number of professional experiences which I feel uniquely qualify me as a Caregiver / Companion. Along with my current First Aid and CPR Certifications, I have several years of experience as a caregiver. My previous work background with Hospice of Monterey, CA and Lexington Minute Women of Massachusetts has provided me broad experience in this line of work. I also have had experience in receiving hospice assistance for both of my parents. Requiring the assistance of a homecare agency has taught me, first hand what it feels like to be the client of a homecare agency. It has given me a unique perspective of the knowledge and sensitivity requirements of how to be a good caregiver and companion and to be able to enter a home and be of assistance without being overbearing or intrusive. I am skilled in the following areas: • Personal care assistance; bathing, dressing and grooming • Meal preparation and scheduling • Companionship and discussion • Medication reminders • Light housekeeping • General help to elderly and disabled • Running household tasks • Engaging clients in activates such as games, memory books, and light exercise I enjoy working with the clients of all ages / socio-economic backgrounds and have a demonstrated ability to develop great relationship with them and their families. Moreover, I am trustworthy and responsible person who take great pleasure in caregiving tasks.

I became a caregiver after I had quit my job to become a caregiver for my mother who was suffering with terminal cancer. She passed away, but the quality time we were able to share while I was caring for her is so precious to me. Then I began to realize how important it is to give unconditional love and empathy to anyone who is suffering with an illness or the negative effects of living their senior years alone. I began to realize that we all will come to that stage in our life and having someone who truly cares about your well-being and helps you with a loving heart will make all the difference in the world! I enjoy being a caregiver because it is gratifying to "give back" I also like the fact that at the end of the day "I made a difference" in their life (even if they won't remember me the next day?!) My greatest achievement is the raising of my two children who have grown up to be successful independent adults. They both have a confidence and drive to do anything they set their mind to do. Makes me very proud! One thing I can share about myself is that while I was growing up, my sister and I would go to my Grandmother's house which she converted into a boarding home for the elderly. We would help her with various things such as, helping prepare meals, serving food, entertaining the guest, (like playing cards with them, putting on skits, singing, etc.) I have great memories of that time and realize as an adult what a great heart my grandmother had for helping the elderly.
