I remember when I worked at the VA Hospital in the Bronx as a secretary-stenographer always watching the Nurses pass my doorway with their white uniforms and beautifully starched caps and had the utmost respect for them and their positions. I knew that these Nurses made a difference in peoples lives and felt I was missing or lacking that something in my job because I felt that nursing is more of a career than a job, almost a lifestyle because it takes a very special person and personality to care and take care of another human being. I enjoyed most the fact that when I spent time with each of my patients/residents that I was enhancing the quality of their life in some manner, the unselfish giving of oneself to make a difference in their life. Most importantly I truly am grateful for the bountiful education I received from all the schools attended who made me who I am today and the joy I receive teaching, training, instructing each and every one of the people I have the privilege of caring for. Personal contact and touch is important in the healing process and certainly necessary to assist an ill person back on the road to recovery. Next to the birth of my son, I am very proud I chose the medical field and returned to college at the age of 40. I am strong, a very outgoing, fun loving, open and honest person who values life and all I've encountered throughout my lifetime. I worked as an LPN in Skilled Nursing Facilities for 12 yrs. and also worked Hospice cases in-home for 5 yr
