I became a caregiver at age 13 volunteering in an old nursing home because I loved helping the elderly, I loved just sitting with them and listening to their life stories. I love the being able to help someone in need, its a privilege and honor to help others. My personal achievement that I am most proud of is raising my daughters, who are both now RN's, and being happily married for over 35 years. I have worked in hospice for 35 years steady. While working in hospice I worked other jobs PT in nursing homes, assisted living/personal care homes, and have done private duty work with many individuals. My career is not work, but a ministry to me. I am a workaholic, I believe in working hard and I have a strong work ethic. I enjoy a challenge, meaning that not every patient I come in contact with is always going to be pleasant, most patients are going through debilitating illnesses, the normal aging process, or terminal illnesses. This requires patience, respect for that patient and family, empathy, commitment and kindness on the part of the caregiver. I like to believe that I have those qualities. I enjoy being busy and fortunately I have a great husband who understands my need to work helping others.
