I cared for my grandmother for 8 years before she passed away 2 years ago. She suffered from Alzheimer's. Seeing the difference I made in grandmothers life on a daily really made me feel great about myself, and how I made her feel. I enjoyed bringing some brightness to everyone of her days we shared together. What I enjoy about being a caregiver is that you really impact someone's life, and it's so effortlessly because I enjoy the work and care that I give. While working in this field I learned that I have some really great traits that I may have not noticed working in a different field. I am patient, understanding, respectful, loving, passionate, attentive, open minded, dependable, reliable, and all for the positive no matter the situation or circumstances. A personal achievement I am proud of? I had a patient I cared for, for about a year and his daughters decided to move him back to his home town. My patient enjoyed my company, and style of work so much, that he offered/asked me if I could move with him to his home town. The fact that he did not want to leave me showed me that I had a great impact on his life, and I was so happy to know that.
