I am a 50 y/o mother of 4 with 8 yrs of caregiving experience. I also have 28 yrs of experience as a physical therapist in nursing homes, hospitals, and private homes. I have a wealth of medical experience, including wound care, mobility, postoperative care, proper use of medical equipment, and performing ADL's. Providing care to my mother, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease, at home over 8 years, gave me more experience with the skills I listed. Changing gears to caregiving after 28 years of practicing physical therapy is where I feel in my soul, I have the most to offer one on one empathetic and compassionate care. I am very family-oriented with a love for animals, especially cats and dogs, and am eager to create a pleasant and nurturing environment for your loved one. I am a physical therapist as well as a caregiver. I evaluated and performed treatments designed to improve the physical health of patients who were recently discharged from the hospital, but too sick to return home safely. It was my job to help them transition home as well as provide support and educate families about decisions regarding their loved one. But most importantly, I cared for my mother, suffering with Alzheimer's disease, at home with the help of private caregivers and family. It gave me a unique perspective to understand and relate to the special needs that families and patients have, the emotional range that occurs for both, the stages of mobility and debility that exist, and allowed me to creatively approach the physical, medical, and nurturing needs of my mom to keep her home safe until she passed.

Certified Medication Aide is also one of the multiple qualifications I hold, that allow me to assist you. Whilst I am within your home, I can safely administer any and all of your prescribed and or over the counter medications, be it daily or weekly, as prescribed. I've also played an active role in doing Physical Therapy / Occupational Therapy / Recreational Therapy and Speech Therapy Assistance. I can also provide Transportation for any of your Dr. Appointments, Errands and Social and Spiritual Activities, on an prn (as needed basis), whilst I am assisting you.
