I've provided approximately 13 years of home health care. First, I was a CNA and a live in caregiver for seniors for 5 years, before I became an LPN. For 8 years and counting, I've continued to provide compassionate caring and patient care, with an expertise in hospice and palliative care, to my I enjoy seeing my clients satisfied with the loyal, responsible and empathetic care I've given them, be it with a treatment or just emotional support. Engaging my clients in conversation about their past, likes and dislikes is so enriching for a client who is not well or weak. Outings if possible for a walk, the hairdresser, a park, museum, beach, or just ice cream can boost a clients quality of life immensely, as well as music therapy. I became a caregiver after I had quit my job to become a caregiver for my mother who was suffering with terminal cancer. She passed away, but the quality time we were able to share while I was caring for her is so precious to me. Then I began to realize how important it is to give unconditional love and empathy to anyone who is suffering with an illness or the negative effects of living their senior years alone. I began to realize that we all will come to that stage in our life and having someone who truly cares about your well-being and helps you with a loving heart will make all the difference in the world! I enjoy being a caregiver because it is gratifying to "give back" I also like the fact that at the end of the day "I made a difference" in their life (even if they won't remember me the next day?!) My greatest achievement is the raising of my two children who have grown up to be successful independent adults. They both have a confidence and drive to do anything they set their mind to do. Makes me very proud! One thing I can share about myself is that while I was growing up, my sister and I would go to my Grandmother's house which she converted into a boarding home for the elderly. We would help her with various things such as, helping prepare meals, serving food, entertaining the guest, (like playing cards with them, putting on skits, singing, etc.) I have great memories of that time and realize as an adult what a great heart my grandmother had for helping the elderly.

I became a caregiver to be able to help some one family get through difficult times that they may be having with their love ones. And be able to give and show support in their love ones daily activities. I enjoy being a caregiver because it gives me a chance to show myself approve to some one else's family. I am able to be responsible for my patients, take pride in my work, and be a team player. As well as letting the families know that they can rely on me at any giving time to provide good services to their love one. My personal achievement is taking care of my comatose son, and knowing that I was able to do the best job in providing care for him before he past. After he past I took the opportunity to go back to school and received my Patient Care Diploma, Nursing Aid/ Home Health Review Certificate, as well as my Phlebotomy Certificate. I take pride in my work when I am dealing with my patients, I make sure my patients mental, and physical health comes first as well as there families needs. I am a team player, responsible and a take charge person when need to be. I am also loyal to my patients and there families.
