I became a caregiver after my mother's death from cancer. I was her primary caregiver during her treatment, and met some wonderful people along the way that helped guide me into this career. I got to see first hand the difference that it made to the individual, and the family, that it became a natural fit. I have worked as a caregiver solidly for the past 10 years in different capacities. The clients have ranged from stroke victims, cancer patients, the elderly to an alcoholic who could not keep up with daily tasks. What I find most rewarding is allowing the person the ability to stay in their home, and giving the family peace of mind knowing that I am there, and competent in my abilities to assess their loved ones
