I became a caregiver because I wanted to help people who was in need. I like being a caregiver because there are so many opportunities and different things to do with being a caregiver. A personal achievement that I'm proud of is when I went to school and became a cna.

Growing up my mother was a private-duty caregiver and well-known in the senior community. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and served on its board. I remember when I was off from school she would take me along to deliver meals, I'll never forget the excitement on the peoples faces as they answered the door. I also noticed how much time she would take with each person. I knew then I wanted to follow in her footsteps. I enjoy interacting with my clients and learning from them as well. Seeing them smile or getting better from the care that was given, well... that's a reward in itself. A personal acheivement related to caregiving was when my mother and I was hired to provide 24 hour care for a 96 year old lady. We were told by her family this would be a short term job and we were to just keep her comfortable. My mother taught me her caring ways and to have a lot of patience with this particular client along with her techniques of daily care. This client lived another 3 years! Her family was always amazed with the exceptional care we gave their mother. I have a letter of recommendation from one of the daughters. A little about myself; I like to write poetry, love my dog, taking long walks and swimming. I believe you are never fully dressed without a smile.
