Hello families! My name is Kaitlyn, but I prefer Katie. I'm 28 years old living in Phenix City, Alabama. I've been in the Customer Service/ Hospitality/ Caregiving field for 10 years! It all started when I was 17 years old. I had an Aunt who was diagnosed with brain cancer. She was put into an assisted living facility and I got a job in food service so I could spend as much time with her as I could. Even though I was in dietary, I was her personal caregiver on my off time. I was with her until she went to heaven, and I don't regret one second of it. I learned so much from her that I fell in love and found my calling in life. I LOVE THIS CAREER! It's a good feeling being able to help those who can no longer do it themselves. Families usually get a caregiver because everyone works, and can't spend all that time missing work. That's why you need someone you can trust, and know your family member is safe and happy! I'm currently going to get my nursing degree, so I can do more for my community. One of the big reasons I think I have thrived as a caregiver is because I'm a very outgoing and caring person. I care about everyone else and make sure they are happy. I put them before myself. I'm always smiling and laughing, which makes my patients happy. I'm a very open person as well, which makes it easier to talk to families! Some of my strengths are time management, I'm a hard worker, I'm always up for a challenge, and I'm always willing to learn a new skill or try something new, and PATIENCE! Patience is a key strength in this career field. I have experience with Alzheimer's/ Demntia, Diabetes, Colostomy/ Catheters changes, amputees, mental illness, cancer, and TBI injuries.
