About Elizabeth

Numerous experiences in my lifetime led me to becoming a Caregiver. Growing up, I had a younger sibling who suffered from a rare disease, Hurler Syndrome. Living with a disabled sibling who was often in and out of the hospital meant I became very familiar with Caregiving. We also moved to the Ronald McDonald House in Minneapolis so that she could receive care. The loving spirit of all towards our suffering little girl was beyond touching. Then, Make A Wish sent us on a trip to Disney and my family enjoyed a week of happiness. I was so inspired that in college I have become President of the Make A Wish Chapter on campus. Then, in July 2013 I interned in Central Region, Ghana as a Global Health Intern for Global Brigades. It was then that I solidified my lifelong passion to work as a caregiver. As a young, disabled boy, living in a village, malnourished, wearing dingy clothing, and shoeless, touched my heart, I knew I would commit to a career in healthcare. What I like about being a Caregiver is that I am constantly humbled. I am reminded daily how any troubles in my life are miniscule compared to what others go through. Working with people allows me to connect, also. It brightens my day to see how I can brighten theres. A personal achievement which I am proud of was my internship in Ghana. At age 20, I got on a plane to leave the country for the first time, alone, going to meet strangers, in Ghana. I feared not following my passions across the ocean because of uncertain
