About Kamaria

I make a great caregiver because this has been a passionate field of mine for 14 years now. I have worked in various institutions, homes, facilities and hospitals. I have worked with dementia units, Alzheimer's, mental disabilities all ranging from teens to the elderly. I'm very free spirited with a vibrant soul. I can adapt to the environments I'm placed in quickly. My focus is always my client and what works best for them. I enjoy having strong communication between the client and the care team... including the family, the nurses, doctors, and any needed specialists. I love to have challenges and creating plans that would be more effective for the individual. Knowing that I learned someone's patterns, routines, and favorite things to do makes me feel great. Especially when it affects them in a positive way. I can understand and speak a little Spanish.

I met my last family from Carelinx. I provided daily care for both parents in the household. Assisted with doctor appointments, laundry, cleaning, prepping meals, daily activities, and dispensing medications. One person has severe dementia and her husband has cancer. I really bonded with this family but their children relocated to South Carolina this past May.

I transport 3 out 4 individuals each morning to their day program. I return home with one gentleman. We work on life skills and building skills daily. We also set different goals we want to reach daily, weekly and monthly. I motivate him to want to do more community outings and activities. I also fix his lunch and administer his afternoon medications. Most of the time while he's resting I complete the laundry, the dishes, the dusting, and any documentation that needs signing or completing.

I worked with the retired consumers at a day program during the day. I worked on life and building skills daily. There were always daily and weekly goals to conduct. I created some new activities and goals for some individuals, I also created big party events for Christmas and Valentines and birthdays. I did a lot of community outings and indoor exercises. I administered medications on my assigned days to individuals who needed them. I completed all necessary paperwork and documentation. I also became a one to one staff member to a young man with severe autism. I worked diligently on reaching new milestones and goals with him. I worked with his behavior specialists as well to create new methods and activities. I carried his medications on my back daily and was the leader in the seizure "MAP" team. My client had grand mal seizures at any given time sometimes very frequently. I also assisted him on maintaining a very strict no carb diet.
