My aunt is actually a certified nursing assistant. She always came over talking about ho much she loved her job and how fulfilling it was to do what she did. I was between jobs so her and my wonderful grandmother signed me up for a CNA program at Dominion Health Care. Within a few weeks, I was working. The thing i like the most about what i do is the bonds i build with the residents. I have met some amazingly interesting people in my 6 years of practicing, and made some great friends. I like to see the smile my residents get when they see me coming down the hall. I even have residents that I'm not normally supposed to take care of that ask for me daily. It is a wonderful thing to know that doing something so simple as taking someone for a walk or cleaning them up and having a real conversation with them, can have such a huge affect on their health and demeanor. The family's usually ask me to do in home care after leaving rehabilitation/long term care facilities. I'm proud of all the work i have done, the friends i have made, and the families i have comforted, knowing that in my hands their family member is taken care of as if they were my own. I am a family man, with a beautiful 5 year old little girl. I'm a driven and hard working individual who loves what he does.
