About CINDY KAYE

I truly enjoy taking care of people, young or old. I grew up the oldest of 3 children. So at a very young age, I was taught to take care of my brother & siste. From there, it was taking care of Grandma, multiple Aunts & Uncles, plus Cousins, I've been doing it my whole life. When I was married, I cared for my husband's elderly Grandparents who had dementia & Alzheimer's. I've cared for a number of folks in the Augusta area over the years. I recently went to Atlanta to take care of my Aunt, who is 91 years old, for 10 days, while my Cousin took a vacation to Greece. We had the best time looking at pictures from the old days. I believe that when an old person dies a whole library disappears. I'm Old School. I have a compassionate heart. I know what it's like to feel forgotten & unimportant. If I can just make one person feel needed, then my job is done.

I took care of my 91- year old Aunt for 10 days. Companionship, cooking, cleaning, laundry, administering medication, restroom duties, dressing & undressing her. When I got there, she was convinced all she could do was sit & watch TV. When I left, she was getting her own coffee, cooking small meals for herself, walking without a walker, fixing her hair & using the restroom by herself

Ms. Linda Lou Taylor was 85 years old in a wheelchair. She lived alone. Her Daughter, Jenny, hired me to come every 2 weeks to clean her home & take her to doctor appointments. As I grew close to her, I came more often to visit and do handyman jobs for her. She had blankets nailed up over her windows. I purchased curtains with my own money to replace them & put them up. I also bought curtain rods. She had a very old nasty rug in her living room that needed to be scraped up off the floor & disposed of. I purchased a brand new nicer rug to replace it. She was on food stamps & receiving food from food pantries. I brought her boxes & boxes of food with each visit. This job ended because Miss Linda Lou Taylor died. I attended the funeral

Miss Betty Marsh was a 92-year-old woman who lived alone. She hired me to come weekly to clean her home, do light handyman odd jobs plus take her to all her doctor appointments. As time went on during the 2 years I cared for her, we became close. I visited often more than weekly for companionship.. This job ended because she moved to Florida to be with other older folks her age in a home care facility.

I took care of my husband's 98-year old Grandmother, who had Dementia leading into Alzheimer's. She came to live in our home with us. I had to do everything for her. She was still able to walk by herself but she stumbled a lot. I carried her to all of her doctor appointments & took her to many social activities. I administered her medications. I was a young Mother with 2 young children at the time & did it all! This job ended because my Mother-In-Law decided she wanted to be the one to take care of her own Mother.

My Mother was diagnosed with cancer & came to live with us. I had a newborn & a 5-year old. Mother was doing Chemo treatments. She was 65 years old. She walked with a walker. There was some days she needed help dressing or bathing. Other days she was okay. She was also diabetic, had high blood pressure & high cholesterol. She had a previous surgery where part of her colon was cut out. Together, we dealt with all of these issues. We came up with an organic diet & exercise program. I got her a job in our church rocking the babies in the nursery. After the 1st year of living with us, she was walking without the walker, cancer-free, babysitting, cooking, cleaning, driving her own car & doing grocery shopping. We went to Graceland to see Elvis! Then, suddenly one night she couldn't breathe. A trip to the ER showed the cancer had come back aggressively. She was dead in a week.

She was a widow & had only 1 Son who asked me to take her in. I administered her medications, cooked & cleaned for her. I drove her to doctor appointments & took her to social engagements. I had a 2 year old little girl. This job ended because her Son decided to put her in the VA nursing home where she soon died thereafter.
