My education is in biology, and both of my parents are nurses, so caregiver was an easy fit for me. When not working in it I've mostly worked in the hotel industry, and there is a lot of overlap between the two: the willingness to do dirty work if it needs to be done, the ability to be consistently pleasantly at someone's service without being obtrusive, the ability to de-escalate potentially dangerous situations, etc. Outside of work, I am involved in a lot of social and political issues and spend a good deal of my free time on those. Mostly voter registration, petitions, the occasional march and the like, and I'll probably be volunteering for a candidate this year. Other than that I tend towards more geeky hobbies like reading.
