I've been an in-home private caregiver off and on for 30+ years; loving our old folks comes naturally to me. I've also raised children, owned a music store, traveled to other countries (as a caregiver as well) and experienced my own trials in life. I am conscientious and respectful. I am thoughtful of family, always endeavoring to include them in happy "little" events in daily life. I am naturally cheerful, optimistic and encouraging in times of trial (medical rehab comes to mind) while also maintaining a resourceful and responsible attitude to the situation. I am honest with myself and those I work with regard to mistakes; I continue to learn and grow in my profession. Life experiences are my most valuable teachers.

I am 26 years old with 2 children and my husband is retired military. To give you an idea of where I came from and who I am- As a child I grew up around an uncle who needed constant care. I watched nurses in and out, from the time I was 3 years old, taking care of his needs and helping him, simply live. Eventually, I took on that responsibility, at 16 I decided to go into the medical field by starting as a general doctor's assistant in Greenville, MS. I worked for a nephrologist, Dr. Patel, who helped build me into the caregiver I am today. After high school, I then went directly into doing CNA work and continued throughout the birth of my children. I feel that the moment I walk into a home/room to visit my resident, a smile goes a long way. I have always been known for my super southern hospitality and for my great bedside manner. I always try to remember the values and morals my mother instilled in me (as Her career is private sitting herself) to remember to treat everyone around me, the way I would want my own mother treated. I absolutely LOVE talking and hearing of my residents past, when they were younger, how the world was different and seeing their faces light up, because someone is honestly intrigued of their journey in life.

Skills & Certifications: Vision and Eye Disorders, Tracheotomy / Ventilation, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Stroke, Skin Disorders, Respiratory Disorders, Renal and Urological Disorders, Post Surgery Recovery, Parkinson's Disease, Orthopedic Care, Neurological Disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, Hospice Care, HIV/AIDS, Hearing Disorders, Gastrointestinal Disorders, COPD, Dementia, Depression, Diabetes, Cancer Recovery, Cardiovascular Disorders, Blood Disorders, Arthritis, Alzheimer's Disease

I became a caregiver because I believe it was my calling. I became a CNA in 1992 and worked as one until 2012. My heart is in geriatrics and working with alzheimer patients. I love everything about being a caregiver! I love what I do and feel rewarded at the end of my day knowing I helped to make someone else's life to be just a little bit easier. I moved to Colorado on blind faith and in 6 months, took and received my GED, got a job in housekeeping, my own apartment and attended Otero Junior College, nurse aide program, where I recently graduated having received my CNA license as it had expired. And finished top of my class in Medical Terminology. I'm a hard worker and take a lot of pride in what I do. When it comes to my residents/patients, they always come first. I am eager to get back to doing the work that I believe I'm meant to do.
