My grandparents, as well as my great-grandparents, made a very strong impression on me. I enjoyed spending time with all of them in the summer. Goodness, kindness, and unconditional love from my sweet relatives taught me to be loving, caring, and considerate of my elders. After doing volunteer work at nursing homes, I really felt this was my special 'calling'. Now, I enjoy each and every day, learning from the elderly people that are in my care. I have been driving to Atlanta and Marietta for the past 4 years, as well as Woodstock and Canton. Distance is not an issue for me. Hope to hear from you soon!! I have been a Caregiver in a variety of situation for 6+ years and each family I worked for called me a "member of the family"!
What makes me a great caregiver? I'm extremely attentive, patient, have a calming effect on people, am trustworthy, an excellent listener and willing to work with each individual's specific needs.
I became a caregiver when my father was recovering from lung cancer & had knee surgery. He required extensive care regarding mobility, physical therapy, meal planning/nutrition, prescription management, & hygiene. Additionally, he needed to know that someone really cared about him & the progress he was making. I am a very positive person with an optimistic outlook on life! I believe this is instrumental is helping one recover from any condition, physically, mentally or emotionally. I had an extensive career as a Director in Human Resources in my corporate career, where many of my transferable skills are utilized in providing care for individuals.
I'm passionate about working with seniors, as I have been all of my life. I have a heart for those who need care, may be lonely, or are in transition from home or family. I love seeing changes in the lives of others when I attend to them with their very specific needs. I'm adaptable, easy to talk to & get people talking, so they begin to feel a connection with others, rather than isolated or alone.
I've provided care to my grandfather, whose life was transitioning painfully with bone cancer. One of my greatest achievements was to see his pain managed not only through medication, but listening to him recall his life's stories, reading to him his favorite, National Geographic, & providing him with all the personal touches that alleviated the inevitable suffering that comes with this type of cancer.
I am certified in CPR, First Aid, AED, and BLS.
I will care for your loved one just as I would one of my own parents, with understanding, being present and available for whatever they need.
Everyone needs companionship, and all of us need a helping hand every now and again. Unfortunately, these needs are often heightened for elderly adults. Many seniors struggle with elderly isolation, a condition that is strongly linked with poor emotional and physical health. Other seniors have to cope with age-related difficulties, which make it hard to perform everyday tasks and activities.
I offer companion care services that provide the social interaction and helping hand many seniors need to live happily and comfortably at home.
Companion care is perfect for elderly adults who live alone or far from family, providing the company, conversation, and security of a dedicated care companion. These services can also be a lifeline for seniors who no longer have the energy, motivation, or physical well-being to live comfortably without assistance. Seniors aren't the only ones whose lives are improved by this type of care. Family caregivers can find respite, relief, and peace of mind by hiring a care companion! I enjoy providing exceptional healthcare for the aged, mentally and physically disabled. My background began as a Medic in the United States Army. I transitioned and worked as a licensed Medic for numerous of years providing emergency medicine, basic life support, advanced life support, ambulatory care, geriatric care, dementia and Alzheimer's care, amongst others to say the least. I'm also a licensed Assisted Living Administrator and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration. I have developed a genuine passion over the years for providing assisted living services for the elderly so that they may enjoy living independently at home opposed to living their lives in a nursing facility. With the amount of education, knowledge, and expertise I have gained along with the tools and skills I have, I am more than equipped to provide your loved one with the care he or she needs. As a mother of three US Marine sons, I too believe in honor, courage, and commitment. I strived to be the best role model for my grown children, all five of them, and am honored by their great contributions to our great country. My passions in life include being physically fit, active, reading, furniture restorations, and as much good old fashioned humor and laughter available! With my experience as a CNA and previous twelve years as an EMT for the Atlanta area, I am very capable and prepared for any job. I consider myself highly dependable, articulate, innovative, and knowledgeable in most aspects of care.
