Seeing someone with an intellectual disability able to lead a happy, safe and fulfilling life is enough to make it all worthwhile. In essence, it's about making small changes to your everyday life to make major beneficial changes to someone with an intellectual disability. Seeing them respond to their new environment - and the care and love that shapes it - provokes a feeling that must be experienced to be believed. And there's simply no reward quite like watching the smile emerge and hearing their laughter. I've being a caregiver for more then 10 years now. I used to volunteer for nursing home and other activity when I was in the age of 19 so that's how i was encouraged to become a caregiver. I love to socialize,read, swim,meet new people and play sports.

Hello! I am a 22 almost 23 year old single mom. I have a lot of experience starting as a candy striper at 15, being a dietary aid while getting my stna, working in a nursing home, doing home health, and also working in waver homes. My experience ranges from just companionship to full on assistance. I have experience with colostomy bags, hoyer lifts, catheter bags, different forms of dementia. I also have experience cooking and preparing meals for regular diets, mechanical softs, purees, and thickeners.

I've always enjoyed helping others, and making a change in someone's life rather it was to make them smile or a kind word to make there day. I'm a people person I enjoy being around people helping them with whatever it may be. I'm out going, easy to get along with, love to smile, like to keep things postive.

Some personality traits that help me strive to be a great caregiver are I'm caring,giving,considerate, I'm willing to go the extra mile, and I always put my clients before myself. I felt the need to help others out so I started out working with the physically disabled then went to caregiving. As soon as I started caregiving I just fell in love with the gradification I felt helping the elderly and seeing the smiles I can put on their faces. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is making a special bond with someone and being able to assist them with their needs. I'm most proud of forming an extremely special bond with my client who unexpectedly just passed away. She treated me like family and I was always there whenever she needed me. I was so blessed to have been her caregiver and putting the biggest smile on her face.I'm hoping to be able to do the same with many other clients.

I have really been caregiving since I was young; as my Grandfather has a stroke and I was around as he went to Long term therapy and continued daily life skills. I lived with my Grandparents when I was in high school to help take care of my Oap when he was really sick. Throughout the past 2 decades, I have worked for certain agencies for years on end; taking care of aging clients in their homes as well as young adults who are also Mrdd.

I'm very good and loving to the elderly. I care alot about people.. I love caring for people who needed help. And my ex's mom needed help and I did everything for her and learned I liked it so I wanted to help other peoples family. Taking care of people and getting them back to their families and make them happy as they can be .. Getting the elderly back to their families
