My early years of caregiving experience was during an after school work study program. I chose to do this at our long term care in the only hospital we have on the island of Molokai. From there, I went on to care for my dad til he past on at 73 years old. I then, volunteered with Hospice of Hilo on the big Island with the respite program & later with the grief group for children experiencing grief through lost of someone or something. I've also had the opportunity to work with an assisted living agency in Arizona and learned to adjust my lifestyle with many individuals with various backgrounds not similar with mines. I had such a great time meeting people & learning different ways to approach individual needs. I am 58 years old and has raised my two boys as a single parent. From them , I have six grandchildren. Compassion is rare, but isn't impossible to learn.
