The reason I became a caregiver was because my grandmother died alone in a nursing home. I have also worked in facilities. I left due to the fact I didn't like the way the clients were treated I couldn't give them enough attention. The reason why I love working in homes with one or two clients at a time is because you get to know them you get to bond with them and they become like family. 80% of my clients I have stayed with till the end and that is because most of my clients are terminal.

Hello, I'm Laura 32 years old and I have been a nursing assistant for about 10 years. Unfortunately, I have allowed my certification to lapse but will hopefully be able to reinstate it some time in the near future. I have worked in long-term care and hospital settings. I also started working with in home support service clients at 16 with my mother and started working as a nanny at 18 and have worked with clients from 9 days old to 99 years old. I am very comfortable working in different settings and with a variety of personalities. I have impeccable references and usually only work for clients that have been referred to me by former clients however I am trying to expand my horizons and try something new. I have worked with patients in a facility as well as at home who have g-tubes, foley and straight catheters, and colostomy bags. In the near future I hope to complete school, which I have put on hold for now due to financial difficulties, and continue to grow through helping others during a most difficult time in their lives.

(Pay is negotiable depending on care level needed) I'm a caring person naturally and I love to help others. This is partly what makes me a great caregiver. I have been caregiving for over 20 years and I find it very rewarding. I believe it is incredibly important work and treat it as such. I am also a CA Certified Massage Therapist and have been for approximately 10 years. I have a passion for the healing arts and am always learning more about healthcare in general. I'm very patient and kind. I'm honest and trustworthy. I'm observant, focused and detail oriented. I have an excellent work ethic and am punctual and responsible. I try to anticipate the needs of the person I care for and communicate clearly with family members to update them on daily activities. I like to clean and organize. I've been trained sanitation practices, nutrition, human anatomy, physiology and pathology. I'm physically strong and practise good body mechanics. I have many caregiving skills and have been around patients with a variety of needs. My greatest achievement, that I am grateful for, was the short time I was able to give care to my father in his last stage of life.

Great caregivers are able to cultivate closer bonds by sharing in the happiness or the sadness of the senior they care for patient. Caregivers understand that slowing down is a process of aging. A great caregiver allows the elderly to move at their own pace and not make them feel rushed. I enjoy working with people and most enjoy jobs where you have one-on-one interaction with others. I enjoyed taking care of elder family members and would like to help others in this way. I like older adults and feel you can get along well with a variety of elders. When i work for someone and they appreciate the things you do for them. I also go above and beyond and sometimes people don't appreciate the extra things I do.

I am very proud to say this gentleman is walking, dancing and driving he is now 82 years of age..
