Hi my name is Erin. Let me start by telling you why I got into this line of work to begin with. My dad is 60 yrs old now but in 2013 he was diagnosed with leukemia. He went through several rounds of chemo and then his bone marrow transplant. After a bone marrow transplant they give you medicine to keep you from rejecting the transplant. He was so sick and not getting any better. He began having siezures which lead the doctors to do more tests to find out why and when they did they found that he was allergic to the medicine and it had caused him to have several strokes. From there he went on to an acute care facility and to rehab but he was never the same. It left him paralyzed. While he was in and out if these facilities we saw so many things that were just wrong. Patients calling for nurses and the nurses never went to help. After that we took him home and mother and I learned to care for my father ourselves. After all that I decided I was going to go into home healthcare to care for people so that they didn't have to go to a nursing home because people deserve to be loved and cared for just like my father. This personal experience is what makes me a great caregiver.

Why did you become a Caregiver? I Became a caregiver because i have the passion to help people who are in need and i enjoy assisting people who cannot assist their selves. What do you like about being a Caregiver? I Like being a caregiver because i feel important in my patients life they depend on me to get their day started in a positive mood regardless of their health or circumstance What is a personal achievement you are proud of? There is one of many achievements that i am proud of but their is one that sticks out more than the others one of my patients had been at the facility i had started working at for 4 years and did not speak to anyone the whole time he was there i did not know that he did not talk because he always talked to me when one of my fellow co workers came to assist me with turning they heard the patient talking to me and was in shock and told me that the patient has not spoken in years and that we should call his wife right away .the wife came and was amazed and in tears hearing her husband speak and laugh with her.It was a heart warming experience because i know i was the asset to the break through. Born to older parents, exposed to illness, my parents didn't believe that this should be hidden from me. It would be better to be exposed in order to be prepared for life. Parents were German immigrants, and went through the second world war. One of the earliest experiences that I can remember is my dad relapsing from malaria. I applied cold compresses, and served him liquids, as the doctor told me to. My mom was ill, and cared for her until she died at age 46.I was 12. At 17, I was hired by Kimberly Quality Care as a home health aide. My client suffered a traumatic brain injury, and I learned so much from his family and the research I did on the subject. This led me to nursing school, and here it is, so many years later, and I am still learning more. Science and medicine are my passion, and that will never change. The advances made daily basis are not just amazing, but confounding. The scientific community is one I'm proud to be a part of. The best thing that I have ever done was in South Carolina, on the 3-11 shift. In order to save a life, I bypassed facility protocol, and I called rescue to send a patient to the hospital STAT. The staff was shocked, and told me that I would be fired. I was ready to lose my license, if that would just save that life. Long story short, the MD, who was also the medical director, treated this patient. He came in the following shift to let me know that the person survived, and if I had hesitated, that would not have been the case. I receiv

My listening skills go past my ears and mind. As a caregiver I listen with my heart. My upbeat attitude has a mission to make one smile. I became a caregiver as a result of seeing my mother taking care of grandpa due to an amputated leg. I got hired at a nursing home in dietary and my coworkers advised me to nurse. I did and fell in love. There is something special about helping someone and seeing the change you make in their day. I must say that is the greatest achievement. I'm originally from Oklahoma. I come from a small town called Altus.

I am a sociable person with a natural capability of providing continuous care. Empathy is embedded in my personality and I am a good listener. Possessing a nurturing nature, caregiving comes naturally to me. I have worked in different personal care capacities for more than 10 years. I am a compassionate individual who enjoys providing exceptional care to people of different ages. It gives me great satisfaction to help someone and the job actually enables me to bring a positive change in the lives of my clients.

I became a caregiver because at the age of 21 I became a mother to a child with a disability (Down's Syndrome) and he he a lot of medical problems and needed medical care once he came home so I went to school and got my CNA in the state of NJ. Over the past 15 years I have worked in long term care facilities, assistant living facilities as well as hospitals and client's homes. I enjoy what I do and plan on furthering my knowledge in the healthcare field for as long as I can. I honestly enjoy what I do because I enjoy helping others
