I started caring for family (my grandmother) from there I found a passion is helping others who are in need of a caring hand. Helping others who need extra assistance to stay in their home makes me feel like I'm giving back to others. Being able to keep people home as long as possible is the best feeling for being a caregiver .
Hello, my name is Ofelia Montenegro I am a responsible, dependable, caring individual seeking the opportunity to work with clients in need of light housekeeping, meal preparation, companionship, other duties. Currently I am helping my daughter providing childcare for my granddaughter during the week, but am looking for employment for the weekend.
I'm a loving and caring father I help take care of my mother and grandmother I visit them daily just to check up on them making sure that they are ok and seeing if there is anything they need help with i take them to the store to pay their food and even help clean up around the house not to mention doing all of the heavy lifting
I have worked in the medical field off and on for many years doing work from retirement facility aide to EMT/ firefighter. I enjoy working with and learning from our older generations as they have quite a history behind them. They appreciate the little things and many times just need someone to listen. I welcome the opportunity to be the helper/listening ear/caregiver/assistant/maid/cook/taxi for your loved ones. On a side note, from 2017-2019 I lived with my 75 year old mother and cared for her. We went for either a walk or swim every morning and meals were my responsibility. (She is also completely able to care for herself, she just hates to cook). I did assist with repairs around the house and did much of the driving for her.
What makes makes me a great caregiver is that I am very patient loving caring and responsible. why I became a caregiver is as I was younger I took care of my grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her as she was elderly needed a lot of care and I took my time to take care of her and I enjoyed spending time with her. what I like about being a caregiver is spending time with people that really need the help and will appreciate the time and effort you have done to help their lives as they are not able to do it on their own. A Personal Achievement I am proud of is I helped a gentleman and his name is mr. Scoggins as he needed a lot of help when he came into the facility he was very weak and was not able to move on his own as he got stronger I help them with their being so he was able to move in the wheelchair tell them to move was able to do a lot of arm lifting leg lifting then from there we did the rails where he was able to do sitting sitting up with help with the rails and then then slowly he went to move into walking across the rails I think that was one of the biggest achievements on myself and him working hard together to get a little stronger as the days went on.
The good thing about being a caregiver is that you get to interract with people, you get to know them well , when i decided to become a caregiver was when my mom passed away , days before her being in the hospital i had to take her to the restroom , help her take a bath , go shopping by myself because she couldnt walk that much , make food even though when that happened i was only 15 or 16 years old , i was young but i would always help anybody that needed help. I am proud of myself because i didnt know how people felt until i came across helping others .
My mother worked as a nurse from as early as I can remember until her retirement during the 1970's. I was drawn to the medical field but never became a nurse. I worked in various jobs from surgery, radiology, pharmacy and finally emergency room admissions. In January 1998 my brother-in-law in Lubbock, TX passed away leaving my sister without a primary care giver. We moved her to our home in Harlingen, TX. She was 100% bed ridden after twenty years of progressive Muscular Sclerosis. I had excellent home care workers for her during the hours that I worked outside of the home. Her nursing care was provided by a company that our physician recommended. Many were good but two were outstanding. They taught me about skin care, catheter care, diet, medication and even forms of exercise that my sister could do with one arm. Her Social Worker through the State of Texas worked closely with me to get the equipment we needed to transfer her from the bed to a special wheel chair or her shower chair. She got us approved to have our bathroom renovated to a handicap shower. As I learned, I then instructed the home care givers to make sure that my sister had the best possible care.
I became a Caregiver because I enjoy helping others. I find that I can help many people with the care i can provide..knowing I can help someone is such a great feeling and joy. A Long goal term achievement was to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. I certified myself in 2006 as a CNA and got the job I knew I longed for. I have provided Senior care since then on and off. I continued in the medical profession for 4 years and also provided Private & Elderly care in between. Now i find myself recertifying for nursing assistant and completing my course to be able to become licenced once again at what I feel I do best.
I have a lot of love to give. I find older people great human beings. There are filled with love. I felt like my grandmother needed somebody to be with her not just physically but emotional too. I enjoy spending time with them even tho its in the simplest way. For example, just sitting in the living room and talk about life, I find that very comforting. I am proud of achieving my goals at such young age.
Hello, Caregiver is an option I was opened about because of love and care is one of my expertise and what better way then to show an elder. I use to be a caregiver for my father who has diabetes, and an amputation on his feet. I have experience what it is to care with love. I feel I have met the requirements to be a caregiver.
I am hardworking, patient, dedicated to work and a loving caregiver to my husband. I believe i have the expertise, having able to give care for years to my husband who has arthritis and heart ailment, I have researched the best possible care i may provide to him and for my future employers. I took a formal education in CAREGIVING this year to further broaden my knowledge about giving care. I decided to pursue a career in Caregiving because I feel fulfilled whenever I am able to provide care for others.
