My passion is working with the elderly. I am honored by the families that put their trust in me to care for their loved one who may be on the final path of their life requiring Home Hospice care. or is at that point in their lives where assistance is needed in order to continue staying in their home, being as independent as possable, staying safe. My commitment for each and every person is to provide them with companionship, assistance with physical needs and whatever else they need, whether it's writing a letter for them, or baking their favorite cookies, straightening out closet shelves or holding their hand, reading a book to them or just sitting quietly with them. I believe it is ao important to pocess tthe traits that are important in caregiving which are flexibility, willingness to sit still when you notice its what the person you are caring for needs. Paying attention is very important. A caregiver cannot just "be there" I keep logs in order to ensure the Doctor and nurses and family are notified of ANY changes such as skin color, urine intake/out take, bathroom habits, signs of weakness, facial changes, depression/mood changes. If bedridden, log needs to include turning times, any skin breakdown issues, A good caregiver needs to go outside the box, be willing to do what otherwise might be uncomfortable, be drama free. Assisting the family is one of the things that helps them know who I am and relieves some of the stress from their lives. By helping doing even the smallest of details, yardwork, cleaning a garage etc. I promise you that I will make the same commitment to respect, never diminish their dignity and do all I can to provide the stability, comfort your loved one deservesI I did not become a Caregiver to change the dynamics of lives. but to be there to make them feel safe, healty and secure. Compassion goes a long long way.

I love to help and serve, and enjoyed helping my aging parents in their later years. They were unable to leave their residences, so I was more than happy to do errands for them, do some cooking, and make things neat and tidy. I also enjoy getting to know people and learning of their history, and life stories. It makes me feel good to be able to help someone out. My favorite personal achievement is raising 3 service dog puppies that are placed with the disabled.

People, in general, are born with specific qualities and gifts that, once found and expounded upon, open up a whole new universe of delight, joy, education, and fellowship. Over time, I discovered I was naturally gifted in being creative in the kitchen (via family/friends special diet needs), writing/journaling, and caregiving in all aspects of the word. My background in detailed administrative work, along with sign language, has allowed these two factors to interchange with each of my gifts, especially in communicating with family, powers-of-attorney, and the main person(s) I care for in any setting. My innate love to research and teach has proven to be very useful when I need to be well-versed on the subject at hand and document wherein necessary to show a pattern of improvement or lack thereof. From a caregiver perspective of personal achievement, three come to mind. FIRST, when my son became a Type 1 diabetic, we were able to allow him 1.5 years honeymoon stage on absolutely no insulin through a raw foods diet w/researched supplements. SECOND, I taught basic sign language commands to a three-generational family whose family member had ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), giving them all one year's worth of communication. THIRD, fire season brought two evacuations, two-weeks apart, back-to-back, which meant loading the five P's into the car, including a 95-year old disabled woman on 24/7 oxygen, with dementia, her adult cat in a crate with all his needs, and myself, driving to a nearby hotel/shelter without access to a handicapped or pet-equipped room for two days before returning (to our unscathed) home. Caregiving is a challenge in its own right. Having experienced grandparents and loving on elderly friends growing up, along with becoming a parent, too, certainly are perks. But of all the things I wanted to be when I grew up, a homemaker was one of the highlights for me, and caregiving falls in line with being a homemaker.

I am an exemplary caregiver that is very dependable, friendly, and detail-oriented. I like to connect with people and educate them on preventative care as well as activities of daily living. Since I was in high school I've always worked in the healthcare field. I plan to move up in the healthcare profession and become a Nurse Practitioner. I am an Alumnus of the University of Nevada Reno with a Bachelors Degree in Biology and a minor in Communications. I have a lot of experience working with a variety of patients starting from when I volunteered at a local hospital while I was in high school. Upon graduating high school I became a certified nursing assistant in order to broaden my experience with patient care. After working as a CNA at Renown, I started working for St. Mary's Regional Medical Center as a Patient Care Tech. I feel confident in my ability to perform any tasks given to me and would love the opportunity to prove that ability to you. Aside from the skills and qualifications I described above, there are many others on my resume that I think would make me a great fit. I would greatly appreciate the privilege of talking them over with you in more detail. I hope to receive a follow up call or email. In the meantime, thank you for all the time and effort you take in reviewing me as a candidate to work for you!
