I have 15 years of experience working in a hospital setting. I worked as a Registered Nurse in the Philippines for 8 years and in Singapore for 7 years. In the Philippines, I was assigned in a multi-discipline ward. It consists of med-surg, ob-gyne, pediatrics, and even geriatric patients. I also handled chemo drugs for AML and ALL pedia patients. In Singapore, I was in hand surgery and Orthopaedic department for 11 months and was transferred to Isolation Ward (Infectious Diseases) for the rest of 7 years. Currently, I am working as an RN in one of the Skilled Nursing Facility in San Francisco, Ca.

I am a RN who has been caring for my father since diagnosed with kidney cancer after battling bladder cancer two years ago. Through this caretaker position I have gained experience working with physicians/nurses/healthcare workers, learning how to organize/prioritize tasks surrounding his care and therapeutically communicating with him and the family. My decision to enter the health care as a nurse came from caring for my mother who has battled cancer for the past 13 years, first breast cancer and then bone cancer. Being involved with her post-op mastectomy care, taking her to chemotherapy and radiation treatments and the aftercare of such treatments has given me an insight into oncology, medical-surgical, senior health, nutrition, and health teaching. I have recently completed a job on the Acute Rehab unit at CPMC Davies Hospital, caring for patients that suffer complex catastrophic injuries/illnesses, i.e. stroke, spinal cord/brain injuries, amputation, hip fracture, neurological disorders, Alzheimer’s, osteoarthritis. I have gained expertise in transfer techniques and bowel treatment programs as well as physical/occupational therapy and daily caretaking responsibilities including bathing, fall prevention, cleaning, meals, etc. I enjoy working as a nurse and caretaker because I love to help individuals progress whether that be through motivation or assistance in maintaining their dignity and ability to continue their activities of daily living (ADLs) as much as possible.

I am an RN of 35 plus years, I also work on staff as a Massage Therapist for a local fitness/ rehabilitation facility- I have a long background in hospital based Acute Care. In recent years my focus has been on eldercare, Hospice, home-care. I consider myself to be a calm, easy, cheerful- hands on care provider. I enjoy using my skills, training- I am able to provide simple or more involved care in the home- simple monitoring to assistance with daily life/ personal care. I like to provide individual care to both my client and their surrounding environment- keeping both clean, organized and comfortable. My assessment skills, training and experience assist me to determine, with the input of the client and family -what the current needs are, and then provide effective solutions and specific care that fits the client and their situation. I also believe in clear communication, so that all are working together towards whatever goal is desired-and whether that is increased independence, rehabilitation, post op recovery, or simply easing distress and assisting w basic activities of daily living, comfort care. In this current climate- I have a strong background in infection control- personally I have been maintaining self isolation as is possible- limiting my interactions/ contact with others to only what is necessary- I use a secure mask to interact- and standard cleaning/ hand washing protocols when interacting - References upon request . I like nursing because it's a profession that never stops giving. You learn new things every day, and the opportunity for growth is almost unlimited.
