Love working with elderly people giving my time to helping others get the best quality of life. Working with the elderly is like walking through a chapter in history. I wanted to make a difference in elderly lives.

Nursing is a calling for me. Making sure that people receive the best possible care I am able to provide is my most important goal. Safety first always, compassion, dignity, privacy, respect and hope are all important attribute's that I find essential to good nursing care. It is a meaningful gratifying experience to know that I can add to someone's life and possibility bring goodness when health issues can be a challenge and so often depressing. Good nursing requires being completely present while in someone's home or in a facility. My standards are no cell phones while at work, no clock watching, and I always address people with respect by using MR.or Mrs. (last name) until I am encouraged otherwise. Using Mama or Papa and other terms of endearment are not appropriate for me personally in professional healthcare. I can say that I am a good caregiver because I have this empathy and compassion towards people especially to our elderly. I love providing care to those that would otherwise not be able to do so. The smile on their faces is overwhelming and makes me feel I have done my job right. I have always enjoyed helping people so I know I am doing the right thing.

I started as a caregiver ten years ago while looking for care for my father who was a retired Viet Nam Veteran. The agency who came to interview my father to see what his needs were, liked me so much they asked me to work for them. They are contracted through the V A and had lots of veterans who they said would benifit from my care so I stopped workung as a Dental receptionist and joined their team. My father passed away at home 3 years later in hospice during his illness I quit my job to be his caregiver and felt a strong desire to keep his legacy going by continuing to help those that can't help themselves. Just a year ago my husband had a brain aneurysm that caused a stroke where 6 months later he passed away at home in hospice where again I was his caregiver and needed to be there for him til the end. My heart goes out to familues who struggle with the pain of taking care of a loved one who is sick and even more so of a loved one who is in the end stages of life. Not only do I know how they feel but I understand their grief . I want to be the one who can comfort not only the patient but the family as well.

I am a compassionate, outgoing and caring person that loves to serve the needs of others, especially the elderly. I am a believer, and have a servants heart. There is so much about care giving that I love. Shining light in an otherwise dark environment ,Listening to their stories of the good old days, Reading to people that no longer can focus well. Playing music from their generation, I love sharing my personal adventures, about my days off with them. Show pictures of hikes I've taking with my husband, or things that I have baked. Oh yes, Love to cook. Healthy meals. I will always keep my clients personal hygiene at its best. Assist them with oral care, hair care, shaving etc. I always promote independence and dignity and respect. I will treat your loved one the way I would want mine to be treated. with 100% devotion to their every need. What attracted me to being a care giver is the enormous need in our country today, I cared for my own grandmother in her 90's, and realized there is just not enough of us out there. I love bringing people Joy as well is receiving joy from them.

Because I love taking care of people. The most that like being a Caregiver is to be able to help someone that is not able to do for themselves, be a companion for those who don't have anyone to talk to. Seeing smiles on people face and knowing they are happy. Knowing I went to school to learn about what I love to do is caring , motivate, appreciate the people I care for and their families. Well I went to school for Certified Nurse Assistant in 2005, graduated March 2006. I've been Certified now for 9 years I have ongoing Continuing Education (CE) . I'm also a Certified Direct Support Professional (DSP) for 6 years caring for people with developmental and behavior problems and many more .

I have worked as a CNA and facility and also private in-home care. I have been doing this type of work for about five years. I recently also became a certified Emergency medical responder.
