Hello and thank you for wanting to learn more about me. I have been caring for those in need intermittently for over 20 years and find a joy in helping individuals while maintaining their dignity. I have cared for a diverse range of individuals with many different needs ranging from assisting with fall risks to hospice. I started care giving when I was 18. I worked with children and young adults who had severe brain damage or physical disabilities. I then started caring for disabled adults through IHSS and eventually left the industry for many different reasons. I always found my way back, though, to work with those who have special needs, either in the administrative aspect or mentoring. Now, after caring for a dear friend, I have found myself wanting to stay in the care giving business once again. Some things I have experience with include ambulation, transfers, feeding and hygiene care, and expect other duties of a general sense to include light housekeeping and cooking. I have worked with individuals who suffer from Dementia, Alzheimer's, strokes, and MS. I tend to learn habits and preferences through observation and communication and try to anticipate my clients needs. For instance, I had a client who did not like her fingernails dirty and preferred to have her hair curled with a little bit of bangs. When she declined to the point of not being able to communicate anymore, I still made sure her fingernails were clean and her hair was curled just how she liked. I also add cognitive stimulation for clients who have Dementia and Alzheimer's and try to keep them engaged in familiar activities. Essentially, my goal is to be able to give the best care possible for the circumstance. I believe patience, kindness, and empathy are key to being a great caregiver. I am also a believer in allowing a client to do as much for themselves as possible for as long as they can.

I currently work as an instructor for a disabled-adult's day program in Stockton Ca. It has been an absolute joy to provide care and company for others. I have always enjoyed extending a helping hand to others whenever possible in both my personal and professional life. I always enjoy the company of others and I find it refreshing to have the opportunity to build relationships with such a diverse web of individuals. My greatest enjoyment about care-giving is the impact I am allowed to have on the lives of others. Aside from my professional life, I've always had the opportunity to provide care even in my personal life. My mother has a plethora of health conditions from sever arthritis to being Bi-Polar. My sister and nephew are also also autistic and my spouse also manages Ehlors- Danlos Syndrome. I assist him with daily activities and mobility restraints. Growing up, I joyfully assisted my grandmother in helping her take care of her mother who needed to be bathed, changed and cared for. In my adult life I look back at this experience and take pride in knowing that I have been an extension of a person, for themselves. For the last year and a half I have been caring for my grandmother who has dementia. I enjoy making people feel welcome and comfortable, keeping them feeling good about themselves. My path in life is to help people stay positive and treat people with understanding, compassion, love and empowerment to stay motivated. I want to help people achieve personal goals, even if the goal is just to wake up and smile. I was successfully working in the property management industry for 11 years. My favorite part of the job was assisting people. I had recently decided to leave this field and pursue a field that focuses more on the individual and their needs. I excel in record keeping, setting up schedules and following through on thing that I start. I am flexible and I adapt to changes easily. I acknowledge the importance of treating people fairly. I would love the opportunity to be apart of the Care Giver Community in whatever area I'm needed in.

I began caregiving the beginning of 2018 because I am just a very compassionate being. I am currently in the Stanislaus State Nursing program and I graduate in December 2020. What I enjoy most about caregiving is spending time with clients and most importantly making that time enjoyable. I also enjoy how in a way, I'm not only caring for my client but my clients family as well. Overall, I'm a great caregiver because I am compassionate, patient, and trustworthy. I have been in the field of caregiving for 2.5 years and have completed almost 600 hours of acute care in various hospitals in the Stanislaus and San Joaquin County throughout my nuring program.
