I am a responsible and dependable caregiver. My experience around elderly and in Assisted Livings has given me understanding and compassion for residents in any type of limitation that they are experiencing. I am patient, respectful, hardworking, and passionate about caregiving. What attracted me to being a caregiver was my mother. She used to be a caregiver and would take me to work every week since I was 5 so you could say I grew up in an assisted living surrounded by elderly. As a result, I've been exposed to a variety of different elderly residents with a vast range of limitations including dementia, Alzheimer's, schizophrenia, blindness, deafness, diabetes, and residents that are independent. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is learning from the residents. Each one of them is so unique, and each one of them communicates differently, sometimes because of their disabilities or limitations, but they all have a story and a lesson to pass on to others.

From a young age I became a caregiver, learning the impact love and patience has on people. The importance of family and taking care of those who need it has always been a pillar in my life for that reason. And experience of caregiving is such a wonderful learning atmosphere, there is no better teacher than compassion. My greatest achievement has been the ability to put myself though school. I am currently enrolled in a Massage Therapy program that has taught me more about myself and human care than anything else.

Having been given the opportunity to work in different areas of elderly healthcare such as medication administration, ADLs, and activities has given me a well rounded view of all that a patient requires, allowing me to provide and meet any needs. My passion for caregiving stems from my grandparents that taught me to respect and honor our elders due to their wisdom and life experience. Throughout my years beginning as a caregiver and eventually become an Activities Director for assisted livings, my love for caring for others has only grown. Getting to see joy in others eyes and being able to help others with tasks they can no longer do is my inspiration. A personal achievement that I am proud of is a workbook that I have designed especially for patients that have dementia and Alzheimer's disease that details different activities that help work their cognitive and physical functions.
