I have been a certified CNA and Caregiver for 17 years. I earned my High School Diploma in 2006 and also went to Goodwin College; majoring in Human Services with a GPA of 3.59. I am also CPR, First Aid and meds certified. I love and enjoy working with the elderly and not so elderly. I enjoy listening to their stories and wisdom and their understanding. I like to treat people the way I want to be treated. I also have respect for everyone's culture, religion and sexual orientation. I also treat people with kindness, respect and dignity.

I believe that my expertise is treating each one of the clients as how i would want to be treated with respect and to know that they matter. What attracted me to be a caregiver is my great grand mother who live until she was 100 years old. Caring for people, i love it when i can see a smile. Hello, I'm Heather. I became a caregiver because I believe it is my Destiny. My grandmother was 80yrs old when she went into a diabetic COMA, (we didn't know that she was diabetic) we (the family members) were all called in to say our goodbyes,because after 2wks her heart was failing . I got there last to say my goodbye, and as soon as I started speaking to her, "my grandmother awoked" and started speaking to me, she called me by my name right away. I still remember the profound impact it had on me,it activated something within me,i vowed i would always take care of my grandmother to the best of my ability .The Dr. Wanted my Grandmother to be placed in a nursing HOME but she refused, so the Dr. suggested we trained to take care of her at home. From then on I knew that I was called to do this work,helping others like my Grandmother. We all became nurses because we loved and respected her so much, my Grandmother passed 8yrs later,but we all made sure that it was the most loving, respectful, most dignified time before she passed. Needless to say when she passed, we were all surrounding her with all our love and gratitudes. She died with a BIG smile on her face, I always remember that smile and in my work I aim to inspire all my patients to smile .My Grandmother's illness became a blessing for my family and me,I would love the opportunity to assist and share my blessing with your family in the most caring, compsssionate and loving manner. I enjoy taking care of individuals out of love and integrity. I have worked with individual's with brain injuries, hospice care, companionship Alzheimer's or dementia. Training with Hoyalift, wheel chair transfers, shower buddy, standard stander. As a young adult all I knew was my grandmother. She taught me everything I knew until she got sick. Her body started to break down and I had to take care of her. I prepared her meals, breakfast and dinner and gave her showers also dressed her. She got really bad and she was forced into a nursing home because nobody was able to give her the proper care she needed. She passed away in the nursing home. I felt nothing but guilt that I didn't have the skills to take care of her so she could be comfortable at her own home. So I made an effort to be the best CNA for others on this planet. So their families can get proper care in the comfort of their homes.

One of my Personal Achievement that I am so proud of being a caregiver to my client I always bring a warm and friendly personality to each client.and I know and understand what it's like to need help from another person because of what I have been thur in my pass I am not just a caregiver I used to be a client also.
