This is a little about me. I am a down to earth individual. I chose to get into the medical field because I was tired of working jobs that paid minimum wage and not enough hours. I wanted to do CNA because it suits my personality well. I have always taken care of my family so I thought why not get paid for doing what I already do. Since being a CNA I have saved up for my own apartment. I could not have gotten my apartment with a warehouse job or working at a fast food place. I really like it when the client and I have a good bond and a great understanding. I like to make people laugh because I believe that is the best medicine. I believe in treating people the way you want to be treated. So if you allow me to take care of your loved one you will not be disappointed

my name is Yolande. I live in Groton. CT. I'm currently a student nurse at TRCC about to graduate this May. I have been in the health care fill working from nursing to Group home since 2015 roughly a year from my arrival in this country. my passion has always been to help those who are in need to live a meaningful life. that is why I choose to work with the elderly, as special need individuals because I believe they are human being who was once healthy and strong and spend their lives taking care of other in every way shape or forms. to me, working with the elderly is a form of giving back to my community.

I'm Emily, I'm 26 and I'm on my 7th year of experience as a CNA. As of this fall I am taking my pre-requisites for the nursing program and plan to become a Psychiatric Nurse. I originally became a CNA because I worked as a dietary aid at South Bay Manor in South County, and I had a patient that I became very close with over time, and when he got sick and ended up passing away , all I wanted to do was to be able to help in any way. The family sent a card thanking me saying he loved me a lot. After that I knew that I wanted to enter the healthcare field as a CNA. What I believe makes me a great caregiver is my empathetic, extremely energetic, and compassionate personality. I have worked with patients of all types from psychiatric and Alzheimer's/memory care units to long term and/or rehab units. I'm certified in CPI or crisis prevention intervention, CPR, and I am certified in Alzheimer's/dementia as well. I am always interested in learning more about my patients and the reasons they behave the way they do. I love to find ways to get closer to my residents, especially the challenging ones with past trauma, or those sassy sarcastic patients who keep me laughing actual belly laughs. There is so much for me to say about why I love my job, but I'm attempting to keep it short and sweet! What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is learning new things every day, from patients, co-workers, or learning from the nurses! I love to build relationships with all my patients, and I LOVE when the families approach me to thank me for taking such good care Of their loved one, it truly makes me feel amazing and accomplished, especially knowing that the family knows that their parents or whoever the patient may be to them, is in good hands! That being said, that's also one of the things I'm most proud of, on a somewhat regular basis, being recognized and hearing thank you from patients, families, nurses, other co-workers, or even administration. It feels good to make people feel good!

I love being a caregiver. I believe everyone deserves great care, and should have the right to stay in there home, and have a dependable, caring caregiver.

I am an independent, motivated person. I am young but very mature for my age. My personality traits consist of having a big heart, being kind and also having a sense of humor (can't imagine living without this!) I have honestly been a caregiver all my life. My mom was a single mother with 3 kids and with me being the oldest, I had this sense of duty to try and help her care for my siblings even though she had never asked for the help. I loved being able to help my mom and it gave me the best feeling, knowing I was helping my family. Ever since then, I've tried to help people as best I could. The thing I enjoy the most about care giving is being able to make a difference in someone's life while being a regular human being (no superheros allowed!) My personal achievement that I am proud of is having the opportunity to graduate high school and have a rewarding job as a caregiver.
