I have been a caregiver for over 10 years. I started out as a Certified Nursing Assistant ... I am currently a License Practical Nurse, I serve in the capacity as Home Health Nurse/Caregiver. I choose to be a caregiver because of my personality. In my opinion, I really did not become a caregiver, I was born a caregiver as I am very compassionate, caring, kind, loving and very giving of myself. What I like about being a caregiver is result, companionship, the way our relationship always grow for the better after getting to know each other. I get this feeling of accomplishment being a companion caregiver when the patient and family members are pleased with the level of care, added support and value I bring to the table. Eventually we ended up having this kind of family relationship while still maintaining that professional standard. One personal achievement I am extremely proud of is, being the best dad my two sons could ever have. My friends and persons with whom I work always say, "Allan you are a real caregiver" I can truly say that my attitude speaks a lot about my relationships with my patients, I am always patient.
I am a Great Caregiver because I have a very patient and caring heart and I am very experience in this area of care. I became a caregiver because I saw the need as I would go to the Supermarket, the Doctors office and see these Sweet Elderly struggle to get through a door ,or take a walker or wheel chair from their car or trying to remember where they park their car:) I like been a caregiver because it give me the opportunity to show love ,care and help to our seniors at the time of their life when they need it most One of my personal achievement I am proud of is I remember when the healthcare agency I was working for call me and said Patricia we have a Patient we need to send you to because she has refuse every other caregiver we have send her and you are the only one we believe we can send and she will not refuse. Well I went and the long and short of it I took care of that Patient for 5years until her passing peacefully at Home in my care. What makes me a great caregiver is my attentiveness, my empathy, and my passion for helping ill. As far as I can remember, being a nurse was what I always wanted to be. caring for other, especially the elderly. The passion I have for elderly care came from me caring for my grandparents and parents. I started as an home health aide for many years, then moving on to becoming a certified nursing assistant, then eventually fulfilling my dream when I became a licensed practical nurse.

As an LPN working for over 5 years in a variety of clinical and home settings I know that I have a natural attraction and gift for being a caregiver. I take great pride in my work and strive to give the highest quality of care possible. I believe that we should treat people as we would like to be treated! It takes patience , compassion and lots of "bonding" to achieve a healthy rapport with a person : especially if they are in pain and have suffered any loss of independence. I am experienced with Alzheimer's and am also a Certified C.A.R.E.S. Specialist (Alzheimer Association). Motivating and being a good and attentive companion to my client's has brought me great joy!!
