Yes, Walking, feeding, dressing, grooming, Toileting, bathing, & transferring are pertinent requirements when living independently. To a greater degree, IADL's are key to managing independence. Managing finances, transportation, medications, communications, house cleaning & home maintenance are key. However, When looking at tasks of daily living, one thing that can't be taught is companionship. It only comes with experience. You can live independently, but without a gentle touch, relationships or conversation, emotional well-being & ones sense of self purpose is lost. It also has a profound effect on a patients health, & state of mind. Its impractical to make a positive impact or change without them feeling emotionally and physically safe. All my life I have known that the perfect profession for me was to offer my caring support and comfort to others in need. Growing up in Rio, Brazil, I graduated with a M.S. in Nursing and worked in hospitals. Upon moving to the USA in the late 1980s, I had to accept that all of my schooling & work experience did not translate to continuing my Nursing career. Yet I still have the skill set as a Registered Nurse. I decided to embark on In-Home Elder Care as an alternative where my schooling could put me in the very upper echelon for Caregivers . My career assisting the elderly has span over 25 years. I am transitioning down to the Florida Gold Coast from Citrus County and focused on securing a Full Time Live-In assignment in taking my next career step. I became a CNA as a young teenager and have remained in the health field. I always desired to become a nurse as a young girl to help care for others. I have been a LPN for 19 years. I have worked in a variety of healthcare settings including home care services. I enjoy helping improve my clients' quality of life. It is very rewarding to know that I make a difference in the lives of others.

I was a nurse for over 15 years in a hospital setting, but have not been practicing for many years. I stayed home to raise my children. When they were older, I began my career as a private in-home caregiver working for over 10 years with stroke survivors. Most recently, my husband and I worked with at-risk youth running a home of six boys in foster care. I love people of all ages, but especially seniors. I've had many years of experience interacting with people in a variety of settings, utilizing many skills. I can help with transportation services and home care and any activities of daily living or just be a companion to those who need a friend. I love cooking, crafts and hobbies and enjoy encouraging others.

Many years experience in Senior Care, also great experience with clients with Alzheimer's and Dementia- I am currently employed at Citrus Memorial Hospital and work on the orthopedic/surgical floor. I have been in the medical field since I was 15 years old. 1st job was in my hometown Nursing Home. Since then I have always had a love for the elderly. I was born to be a caregiver as I was a Nanny in NY for 10 years. I grew up in Iowa and have always loved the medical field. I have been an EMT since 2000. I have many years working in Healthcare facilities. I have a big heart and love for elderly. I always have a smile on my face and will go the extra mile to help others out.
